More of the Same!!
Well, here we go. Four more years of . . .
Jobs shipped overseas
Increased tax burden for the middle class
More war in more countries
Fewer jobs and less pay for the jobs we keep
An ever increasing tax deficit
Erosion of personal freedoms
Decrease in the quality of education
Empowerment of corporations over worker's rights
etc, etc, etc.
I love America, but it is leaving a sour taste in my mouth, starting this morning. I respect the office of President, regardless of who fills the position, but it is becoming more difficult everyday. I respect the christian right and their right to voice their opinions, but I don't respect the legistlation of chrisianity in our secular culture. This election, hopefully, will be the last election to lead us towards imperialism and theocracy. We can only hope.
To our friends overseas, sorry guys. We gave it a shot but came up short in the end. We could blame the War in Iraq on the president, but it seems that the blame has moved right back on the American populace once again. Dammit, now I will have to tell people I am Canadian when I go abroad.
Why do I feel like singing "We Shall Overcome"?

Re: Obama
quote:
Honestly, if he can take Idaho like he did, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Democratic party go for it. Obama really seems to know how to earn the trust of the American people, and that's exactly what we need to counter the religious movement going on for the Republican party right now.
Sorry, but no Obama here in Idaho. If he were I would be jumping up and down with joy. The dems running for Idaho senate seats were pathetic. They were so bad that I could not in good conscience vote for either candidate, and that is saying a lot. If you talk to Obama, maybe you could talk him into moving to Idaho? Pretty Please!!??

Re: Idaho for Bush
quote:
I seem to recall that the Idaho vote went about 70 percent Bush, 30 percent Kerry.
What is going on out there?
Many reasons. Influx of Mormons, strong anti-environmentalism, some people feel threatened by socially liberal movements, many want lower taxes on farming, etc. There are a ton of reasons, but at times it comes down to the redneck effect (ie "Bush is talkin' like me, I like that in a PeeResident"). It's a beautiful state, but the politics are hard to put up with.

Re: Idaho for Bush
quote:
Easy. The people in idaho saw past kerrys lies and decptions and voted for truth. They voted for a moral compass to be followed
If I wanted a moral compass in the White House I would have voted for the Dali Lama. Bush is a poor moral compass. Killing 100,000 civilians, supporting the death penalty for the mentally handicapped, and eroding personal freedoms in the name of fear is not a good moral compass. And what were those Kerry lies that you are referring to?
quote:
Further, you idiots are not a minority unfortuneatly. We have to deal with your peoples decisions every day in our schools.
I haven't heard such vitriol since the Hitler Youth. Do you want liberals in concentration camps? Or will you just send the Brownshirts out to bust a few heads? Thank God there are liberals in the educational systems, otherwise our kids would be forced to become christians. Already, Bush wants my tax dollars to support christian schools. What's next?
