Weird the topics page claims there is a msg 8 there from rob in this thread, *currently* such a message does not exist.

I just enountered the same thing:

Message 8 of thread of forum Faith and Belief does not exist. Please click your back button and try again.

It happened on another thread a few minutes ago too, but by clicking on the page instaed of the post, and then refreshing the page, I was able to bring up the new post that had originally been declared not to exist. Didn't work this time.

Can not general or message specific reply at a topic

I tried posting both ways at Fossil Fish (named "Tiktaalik") Sheds Light on Transition. What I got was:

Minnemooseus: There is no thread with this ID number: 82
Adminnemooseus: There is no thread with this ID number: 82

I got the same message when trying "preview".

I am not seeing that problem when I use "Preview", either on a new post or on an edit of an existing post.

I haven't tried an actual post, since I don't have anything I particularly want to say in that thread.

Hmm, I have seen that error message before. As I recall, it was due to use of a dBcode [thread=nn] so that the thread reference was relative to the forum. I was editing a message to fix a link. The thread had been moved from a different forum. The dBcode had expanded correctly, relative to the original forum, but on editing wanted to reinterpret it according to the current forum.
