Percy writes:
Clearly Billy Graham is saying that if you don't accept Jesus you'll be killed. He's using threats and intimidation to win conversions. Anyone who thinks otherwise just does not fully appreciate what is being said. There's no ifs, ands or buts in that quote, just declarations. It's as clear as day to anyone who opens their eyes. He's attacking the beliefs of non-Christians by threatening them with death. He has no respect for the beliefs of other religions, just contempt.
Of course, this is just the kind of hogwash you expect from Christians. They're always exaggerating and making overblown statements and engaging in logical fallacies. Their positions don't make any sense. They are misusing Christianity and typically overstating the case. Why don't they just admit what they're doing instead of weaseling out and attacking those that are telling the truth about what Christians are really doing? This is just dishonest and deceptive.
In the first place Percy I concur with Graham's statement but I would contend that Jesus is for those who choose love over hatred, and goodness over self, be they Christian, Atheist or whatever. Jesus himself states that it isn't those who hear his words but those that follow through that are righteous. You can choose to interpret what he says in your way if you so desire, and maybe Graham himself means it that way, but it doesn't mean that all Christian's believe it.
In your second paragraph you choose to attack all Christians with the type of self-righteous, over-blown rhetoric that you are accusing Christians of.
Everybody is entitled to my opinion.
