For percy: setting the record straight on Charlie Rose interview

Hi Rand. I'm not sure who's winning this debate. Though I've scan-read the thread, I'm not enough read up on the subject to make a judgement. I do think that regardless of who's winning, it's been a good and civil debate. I see you commented on the above statement down the thread a ways inferring that most do, but I would caution you on lumping all evos as you have above. This tees off every evo here at EvC, no doubt. Even if one thinks most of any given group causes offenses, for the benefit of those who don't, it's best to say something like "as some evos do," et al.Having said the above, I'll be watching for evos who may be lumping creos in a similar manner. If we all keep working on our PR here things will hum along nicely for the good of all. Thanks for working on yours. Overall, I think you're doing good.

I assured Randman after admonishing him about lumping all evos into one in his posts, that I'd be watching for evos who did this so (gulp) Percy, sir, me friend, with all due respect for your position, what's good for the goose's gotta be good for the gander.

I see GDR and I both needed to read more carefully, especially me, the mod, and it had to be Percy, so I did it up good. Well anyhow, Rand can see that I kept my word on fairness and balance. (Gulp) Percy, sir, me friend, my apologies for the goofup!

SuperNC, to be fair and since Rand has shown improvement in this area since being admonished about it, Rand did not say "evo scientists," which would be indicitative of monolithically grouping them all. He did prefix the phrase with the word "many."

Rand, did I miss something here? Unless Percy outright accused you of lying, given the intensity of the debate, it's best to allow for what he said to mean your information was false or that you were mistaken, especially when you can give him the benefit of the doubt. You're obviously frustrated, but this's not important enough a matter to get all uptight over. Do your best to relax and choose the nonconfrontal manner of responding as best you can. You're obviously irritating Percy in some areas and my suggestion is that you let go of some things which you'll never agree on, especially the less important aspects of the debate.The debate seems to be getting bogged down with this "he,they said/he,they didn't say" rut. Slow down, if need be and try to get'er hummin along in a more conciliatory manner.
