Re: Back on Topic
The "scholars" sure do work hard trying to get rid of the God who will finally judge them. The great re-imaginers. That's all they do, imagine devious motives, evil intentions.
Do you have any basis for ascribing such motives? Isn't it possible that these are historians who are interested in understanding their own heritage?
It has always seemed to me, that Christians should welcome this kind of investigation.

What is your evidence that the New Testament is legend and not simple factual reporting?
The Gospels were written many years after the events. Whatever they might be, they could not be simple factual reporting.

The gospels were written within decades of the events they report and the figures you are trusting are the modern revisionist dates, designed as usual to discredit the traditional understanding.
Something written decades after the events could not be a simple factual report. It could conceivably be a biography, but not a simple factual report.

We've got piles and piles of records from that area, and the abject failure of Jesus to appear in any of them does contradict your one single source. It is evidence that Jesus Christ was not a historical person, at least not in the sense of being the Christ.
I have to disagree with you, crashfrog. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. The lack of evidence for Jesus casts doubt on the biblical account, but it does not contradict that account.
