Re: interesting post
It was the Muslims who originally separated people into groups, calling the non-Muslims by a specific name, and denigrating them.
what! you're kidding right? muslims ain't the first to do this--in fact, christians were calling pantheic (or is paganistic the term?) religions heathens and pagan, a distinct group from christians, well before muslims were around. Hell, we were separating in Us, Them defintions even before civilization--this is our group, they are not us. What's not specific about egyptian, jew, babylonian, assyrian, hittite, roman, etruscan, phonecian, greek, indian, barbarian, (whatever the ancient Sudanese are called?), persians. Granted, those are our translations of what these people called themselves and how they were recognized by others, but still, distinct groups, with the whole Us, Them complex.
Actually, I'd say all religion is false--how can they all be true? If one is true, what is it that makes it true--that you say it is?.

sure, but then how do you justify the christian crusades during the middle ages? If christianity is supposedly so peaceful, then I don't think you want this nation to be labelled a christian nation. at least they have a religious justification--you don't.
(not that I'm saying that violence is the way all the time. sometimes it is--war against Hitler, for example. Other times, peace is the answer, such as the civil rights movement of the 60s)

Re: Again and again
yep--for knocking a blow to this overly materialistic world. you know, toppling the major symbols of wealth and economic power, which is the wrong focus for life while were here.
not that it did much other than to slow our economy down.

We have pretty good reason to think that animals are not religious
well, that does it. i guess we can safely say that yes, humans are not religious--thus it is the God squads and the nutcases belonging them that have ruined the world for us (for surely, if animals aren't religious, that makes atheists normal, and those who believe in God are abnormal)(don't you just hate that?)
one final note--humans are, in fact, animals.

ask those who started the "war on christmas". specifically, ask why those christians who started the revenge war to put christ back in christmas--it's the atheist liberals (or whoever else was atheist or materialist) who've removed christ from christmas and made it into a material holiday. They used atheism (or rather, the supposed takeover of atheism in the public) to justify what the called a "war on christmas".
Don't you just love our country? all manner of stupidity can be found here, huh?

I was just giving riverrat a case of where someone, or some group, was using atheism to justify a war. did their justification have to make sense? no, just that there is a group who uses atheism as an excuse to push things. I'm not saying I agree with them, I'm not supporting them. Rat just wanted a case of atheism being used a justification for war. chill out, man, chill out (I know you're a girl, but how else do you phrase that?)
