you'll see that their definition of "informed consent" to an abortion involves a doctor telling the pregnant woman this "gestational age" Is there anything preventing the doctor from informing the woman that "gestation age" is state invented nonsense? (Provided that some legal time-limit no-no isn't exceeded).Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. But we already know you don't really have to be that accurate when you're bashing the Right. Well no you don't as it is a pretty broad target. Upon reflection though I agree that it's not all that funny. Here is some real humour for you
I think that is a bible on the floor.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering about. It doesn't "states 'pregnancy begins two weeks before conception'". But we already know you don't really have to be that accurate when you're bashing the Right. There might still be an issue. I haven't read the bill. However, it is quite normal to calculate the Date of Conception by simply defining it as the date of last menstruation or something like that. This averages at 2 weeks before fertilisation. However, when using this method, one calculates the gestational time as being longer, 10 months, than otherwise - to compensate. If we're going to use this to determine where an abortion is legal - we should push those dates forward too. If this isn't being done, then we can rightly criticize those that authored, sponsored and voted for the bill.

There might still be an issue. I haven't read the bill. Well, isn't it written by a Pro-Life person? If they're trying to push back against abortion then it makes sense that they'd write it biased against abortion. What it does is criminalize an abortion after 20 weeks gestational age. Gestation age is an actual term from obstetrics. It doesn't matter if you draw the line at 20 weeks since gestation, or 18 weeks since conception. The line is drawn where the line is drawn and that's what should be criticised. I just think its hilarious that poeple jump on the "omg look what they said" bandwagon with such partison bias. They might as well be making fun of all of obstetrics for "stating" that women are pregnant 2 weeks before conception because of the way they define gestation age.

If we're going to use this to determine where an abortion is legal - we should push those dates forward too. If this isn't being done, then we can rightly criticize those that authored, sponsored and voted for the bill. Sure, I don't like the bill either. I just think its funny that people played the "they're so stupid look at this dumb thing they said" card, but since it was against a Republican, then all the leftys just jump on the bandwagon and don't even look into it. If it was being said about a Democrat, then people would've dug into it and figured out exactly what was said, looked into the background of the person who said they said otherwise, and then hung them out to dry - all the while thinking that they're skeptical and honest and unbiased.

But the quote didn't say that the bill states that pregnancy begins two weeks before conception. It says that it deems a woman pregnant two weeks before conception I was going by the title of the source article: http://www.examiner.com/...egins-two-weeks-before-conception
quote: They even use apostrophies as if they were quoting the law.
Gestational age means the age of the unborn child as calculated from the first day of the last menstrual period of the pregnant woman. This means that in some (indeed most) cases the fetus will be legally deemed to have existed before it was actually conceived. Yeah, but its a normal term in obstetrics. Are we to be laughing at that entire field of medicine because they don't even know when and how babies are conceived? Gawsh! They're so stupid!

We have a cliche around here about "government jobs": six guys standing around a hole, all leaning on shovels.
I saw the updated version out my window the other day. The backhoe was idle and its operator was talking on his cellphone. The one guy beside the hole (cutbacks, I guess) was talking on his cellphone. I don't know if they were talking to each other. I could't see anybody in the hole but if there was somebody, I can only presume that he was on his cellphone too. Then I got a call on my cellphone.

... , but we're happy the Yanks still like playing with their precious toys
Well, of course, our culture derives very much from the British. And yet ... there is still that German influence. It's been said that Germans love acronyms more than any other nationality ... except for the Americans. And it's been said that Germans love gadgets more than any other nationality, with sincere competition from the Japanese ... except for the Americans. Early in American history, most of the colonies were founded by the British, but a lot of German immigrants also came in. There's a myth about a vote to choose the language to use and it was just one vote away from being German. Certainly in Europe, Americans are viewed as being more like the Germans than any other culture. Futhermore ... uuh! What is that that you're playing with there?

Does the right have its own brand of humour? In the US they do.
Is it funny? That depends who you ask. A bunch of idiots seem to enjoy Larry the Cable Guy, I find him to be a terrible comic who worked very, very hard at amusing the "not so smart folk". Catch phrase "Get-r-Done". You can judge for yourself though: Here's one of my favorite comics destroying The Cable Guy at his roast: It's toward the end after having his way with everyone on the dais. - Oni Edited by onifre, : No reason given.

Larry is kind of a celeb around here. His in-laws live in the area. His wife is from Sarona, WI. I have a passing acquaintance with his father-in-law and have played golf with him a few times. Never met Larry the Cable guy though.
Never found him particularly funny, but his humour would fit in with the people from around here. Ron White is the only comedian from the Blue Collar Comedy tour that I find funny.Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

Never met Larry the Cable guy though. He's a celeb in Central Florida too, where he started as Dan Whitney. I don't critize his work ethic, in fact I wish I had that drive he had. I'm guessing he knew it was hacky comedy so he had to work for it - and it has gotten him a lot. Although he "borrowed" the Get-r-Done catch-phrase from a morning DJ in Tampa. But his humor to me is racist, homophobic, bigoted garbage done un-ironically. It's not very impressive either, mostly "borrowed" from internet jokes. I'm not really a fan of him on a personal level either. I've heard he's kind of a cunt.
Ron White is the only comedian from the Blue Collar Comedy tour that I find funny. Ron is awesome. Great guy, great comic, totally original and edgy. One of the best touring club comics right now IMO. A live Ron White show, if he doesn't get too sloppy drunk (go to his early shows), are fucking hilarious. - Oni Edited by onifre, : No reason given.
