So im assuming that in your mind, you also think there is no way that you can "know" Jesus. Correct?
A character in a book. A book like any other book. (collection of books) All I can say is that if GOD made you the Apostle to the atheists, He left a few nuts and bolts out of the assembled product. Edited by Phat, : No reason given.

jar writes: This is one of your pet sermons that you continually bring up, but it makes no sense. ...But in the story it is the serpent who tells the truth and the God character that lies. If the serpant is not satan, who in the heck is the serpent, and why would the Creator of all seen and unseen need to lie while a lowly snake "told the truth" as you assert? Add by Edit: I looked on the internet and found others who use the line of logic that you do. Predictably in comes from an atheist/agnostic forum here. This is one argument that I literally don't like. I don't like how people accuse God of lying. A God character that lies and needs to be corrected by humans is a pathetic and sad god. Plus it suggests that we ourselves need to think for ourselves...effectively becoming our own gods. Pathetic and sad all around, in my opinion...and deceiving. Edited by Phat, : No reason given.

It's about people, about why we fear snakes, why we have to farm and not just hunt and gather like the other animals, why we wear clothes unlike any other critters, why we build a moral society, why childbirth seemed more painful for humans than for other animals and most importantly, why women must be subject to the men. I dont agree with your theology. I suppose you will than say that Jesus came to teach us how to be responsible, and not to save us from our sins. You hung around too many Jews as a kid...their cultural ideology tainted your christianity. And of course go figure...they dont think we need a messiah either.

I see the logic of your argument, except that it negates the need to accept Jesus into our hearts. Jesus stands at the door and knocks. Sin crouches outside and waits to be let in. What happens to the guy who accepts no mail from anyone?
By the way---technically Jesus is symbolically here today...but not bodily. The Holy Spirit---the comforter is here with us today, but Jesus Himself has not yet returned.

Three quarters of the world doesn't accept mail from Jesus. Im not convinced of this. The whole idea of what it means to accept has to be explored. Jesus said that He was the way, the truth, and the life. How many people accept truth? How many people accept life? The question we should ask ourselves is what it means to answer that door. What it means to be granted the serenity to accept the things we cannot change and courage to change the things we can. Being a goat is a choice...not a destiny.

We need to make an active choice, whether there's any external entity or not. Personally I think thats an impossibility...the choice has to exist in order to make a choice.

you seem hung up on the idea that having to choose Him is not actually a choice. We have no choice but to breathe oxygen either...yet we do have a choice not to breathe.
Do we complain that its unfair that we are not given a choice between breathing oxygen and ammonia?

Have you even read the Bible, jar? Adam & Eve were not simply a couple of clueless children.
Gen 1:28 writes: You don't give such authority nor responsibility to kids.
God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Gen 1:26-27
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." 27 So God created man in his own image,in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Why is God not talking about them?

are you saying that GOD the creator of all seen and unseen has nothing to do with the Bible? I cant buy the idea that uninspired humans wrote the whole darn thing. of course...why am i even asking you? I am quite sure that GOD does not inspire you either.

The audience at the sheep/goats discourse were Jews(Disciples, mainly) who had not yet been covered in the grace and gift of atonement given by the risen Christ. People are still judged the same way that they always were. We all are guilty...lofty jaywills and spare change ringos alike.
The difference is that now we have what you so disdainfully call a get out of hell free card. Jesus death, burial and resurrection made it possible for everyone. To claim that salvation is based on what we do is to cheapen the sacrifice that God made. Perhaps what concerns you is that some Christians will use the salvation excuse to do no good works, but I would imagine that good works will and should be cheerfully done....reward or not. What differentiates us is that you believe we must do good works and must earn our gift...whereas I believe that a gift is a gift...you can never earn it to begin with.
