arkathon writes: Why would not the light keep reaching right from when our light became all there was coming? You said the time of travel of your alleged light was 0. Let's follow two photons, the last photon before the change and the first photon after the change. We will call the former Fred and the latter George. Fred (the Spiritual photon) is created and in zero seconds is at earth. George (the normal photon) begins his journey to earth and will arrive 1 billion years later. During that billion years, no light from the star will reach the earth. The sky will be dark. One billion years after the change, the star will suddenly appear. And it will suddenly appear as a new, normal star. Frankly, that didn't happen. It is the kind of thing people notice and record and we have not had a steady stream of stars suddenly popping into view. In addition. You said that the change happened about 6000 years ago. If your theory were true, we would see no stars that were more than 6000 light years away. Again, that is false. We do see stars that are more than 6000 light years away. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

"Like the farmer who saw a giraffe for the first time, shook his head, and said,"there just a no such thing." The farmer can deny all he wants{just like you} even when presented with the evidence{a giraffe}but obviously the evidence presented by nature disagrees with him.Of course he is still entitled to his opinion, just not his own facts.

I think Arkathon needs to revise and describe the speed of light to be near infinite. If it is infinite, then what you are saying is true, if it is near infinite then when the spiritual photon and physical photon separate the physical light would be left in transit.

Still would not fill the gap.
Let's revisit his example. Last photon before change gets here soon after the change. Fill in any speed you want. Next photon after change takes 1 billion years to get here. You still end up with the same scenario. All the stars wink out between the time the last fast photon gets here and the first slow photon gets here. To get rid of the gap the speed of the fast photon must equal the speed of the slow photon. Any other scenario leaves a gap where no light from the star reaches the earth. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

quote:Thats a little like saying, OK so a bird flaps his wings, and flys 100 miles, and an angel flaps his, and flies 100 miles. Not really comparible the spirit, and physical. Photon is our light, the S light, which we cannot even see with our eyes, or instruments, does not use photons as such apparently. quote:Your George came into being, in this case as a light that spanned the billion light years. The difference is, the poor guy is slow as molasses. The interesting thing about it is that the light we see (P) would still appear to have travelled a long way, by it's spectrum etc. Because that is where it comes from, but it has very much changed form. quote:No, not at all, this is the point, for the last several thousand years it has just been our slow P light. But we still see beyond that, because the S light blazed the trail so to speak. But in seperation the whole trail was turned into a P trail

So, nice build up. Waiting for the evidence now. You have some type of good reason S could not have left us with P?

We assume here then that S has photons? Does the light at the end of the tunnel have photons, that dying people see? If so how come we can't measure them? How come we can't see God? -or, unless they manifest, almost any spirit beings?

Hmm, I doubt you are serious. I suppose by that calculation, Jesus lived a hec of a lot of days on earth!

Philip in the bible needed to cross a sea, and a miracle happened 'immediately they were on the other side'! The Spirits of God are not limited by time, or speed, certainly not our pitiful light speed. There is no physical limit to S. The limit came as a result of being in a physical world. P is very limited, as are all things in our physical plane.

Again Arky, how fast does/did this imaginary spiritual/merged light travel?

Why does it matter? Spirits can travel with the speed of thought. Fast as you can think about somewhere, or someone, voila, there you be, in no time at all. So you can not use a pitiful physical speed to limit their travel. They don't have a physical body to rip apart at such great speeds. Since it looks like you guys won't be able to get me on this one, here is another funny idea.
What if, during the seperation, something happened to earth itself, to where the aging process appeared to be very very great suddenly!? What if that is why things look old? Spiritual beings and things don't die, or age in the way we know it! It reminds me of 'lost horizon found' where a girl wants to leave the mountain paradise, but, when she gets out of range-starts to age very very fast!

Thats a pretty cool thought.
Hey a drunk Polock once told me that you can travel faster than light very easily.Look up at the stars, pick any one. Now look at another....Bam you just went faster than light. lol I laughed for days at this. But looking at it from another perspective, God spoke the universe into existance. Hey can you prove that everything doesn't revolve around the earth? And the earth is the center of the universe?

That's easy. Just look up into the sky and check how the other planets move. Or go up into space (might not be that easy) and look at how our solar system looks.
If we know that the Earth revolves around the sun, why would we conclude that everything revolves around the Earth?

Spirits can travel with the speed of thought.
There ya go, then! Thought, which is to say nerve impulses, can travel as fast as 100 meters per second or so, about a fourth of the speed of sound or one three-millionth of the speed of light. Thanks for settling that for us, Arkathon! Nerve Impulses

Actually you can get exactly the same results if you assumes the planets revolve around the sun and the sun revolves around the earth, and no experiment you can do will distinguish between the two.
The reason we take the everything around the sun model is because it is more consistent, mathematically easier and it better reflects the physcial realities of what is going on. It is not however, the only model capable of completely and correctly modelling our solar system.
