Author | Topic: Where is the "leftist" media in the US? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

"Leftist" is how we rightists identify liberals of all degrees, because we know they got their orientation from the Marxist left through the universities, which are dominated by the 60s generation.
Anyway, there was a book written on the subject of media bias to the left, by one Bernard Goldberg, formerly of CBS. Here's a rightist review from
NewsMax on Goldberg's book, Bias It is OK to slur fundamentalist Christians. But anyone making a similar disparaging comment about any of the "politically correct” minority groups would have been dismissed. That is Bernard Goldberg’s point, laid out in 223 pages of his new book, "Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News” (Regnery).
This is not Rush Limbaugh complaining for the 100th time of "bias in the liberal media.”This comes from the pen of a man who was a correspondent for CBS News, having worked inside the company for 28 years... Goldberg, who spent his last years at CBS in the doghouse for his 1996 Wall Street Journal piece, says that if these correspondents were to take a lie detector test as to whether they slanted the news leftward, they would deny it and pass with flying colors. Many of them don’t consider that they’re leaning in any political direction. They really think they are simply mainstream. There is no other side of the argument except what you hear from a few right-wing nut cases. In their world, mainstream conservatism doesn’t exist. As one Washington news correspondent once said to me, "There is no left wing.” There’s just normal goodness, as opposed to the extremists.

Certainly NewsMax is right wing. Fox, while it's one of the very few news sources where you can find a right wing perspective, is far from consistently right wing. However, both of these came into being BECAUSE of left wing bias in the mainstream media. And we rightists are deeply grateful to radio talk shows and to the internet where we can connect with many others who agree with us, whose voices are otherwise drowned out and ridiculed in the mainstream media.
It's MAINSTREAM media that are being identified as left wing. ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, PBS and NPR. PBS picks up on the BBC, also left wing. And just about every newspaper in the country. You can't just SAY so many of the media are mainstream or centrist in their views as you do, agreeing with their self-assessment, since Goldberg documented their leftwing comments. You have to give evidence. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

It isn't my evidence, it's Goldberg's, according to the review. He documents the Ivy League backgrounds of the major news pundits, Ivy League being leftist. Heck, jar, I know a Marxist when I hear one. I dated one in college. I married a liberal with Marxist sympathies. I was surrounded by them.

Actually, the responsibility of the press is to be objective, neutral, and keep their opinions to themselves.
You just wish they were all-out leftist condemners of the right instead of restrained by at least a modicum of human decency.

Perhaps Nemesis Juggernaut's rankings would be my own, I don't know. He says MSNBC is centrist. I've had that impression too, but I don't see much TV any more. I can only get CBS because I can't afford cable. Sometimes I want to throw something at the screen. Sometimes I turn it off in the middle of a supposed "news" report. Surprised if PBS and NPR aren't obvious leftist to you, but I haven't paid any attention to them in a long time either.

Oddly enough, nwr, your idea that Bush has lied is spin, leftist spin. Many of us see no lies in anything Bush has said. One would think that a lie would be an objective thing, but interestingly it isn't. I've seen all kinds of accusations of lies against posters right on this site that I know were false. So all I can say is that your leftist bias is clouding your vision on this subject.

Apparently you have never heard of Cultural Marxism. But I was talking about a real Marxist, who went on to teach it.
Sorry about the misplaced reference to Goldberg. But we do all know that the leftists are forged in the leftist universities. That includes you, supposedly a Christian, supposedly a conservative even (by some quirky standard known only to you), but indoctrinated in a nominally Christian but amazingly liberal educational environment that led you to question the Bible, according to your testimony on the belief thread, an indoctrination you have apparently never questioned or transcended. It was fascinating to read how one of your teachers, guides, leaders, whatever, led you like a skilful lawyer right into the conclusion he had in mind, and you fell like a sucker for it and have never looked back.

Belief Statement - jar
I asked Joe what I should think, and he told me right away that only I could decide that. Even if I decided not to get confirmed, I was growing up and so it was time I started deciding what I was going to do and believe, and not have others decide it for me. Then he told me a story. Long before he had been a missionary in China. The village he was in was very poor, the crops had failed and people were near starving. One of the warlords showed up and told the people, if they would abandon their current master and join him he would see they got food. Just believe in him and all will be okay. Any that did not believe in him would be left to starve to death. The warlord could have saved everyone, he had wealth and more than enough food, but instead he wanted to save only those who would follow him. “What do you think of the warlord?”, he asked? The orange Nehi was cold, and I tasted it on the front of my tongue and in my nose. So different from coke, or the grape Nehi and the questions ran back and forth just behind my eyes. A week passed and once again I sat down with Father Joe. “What did you decide about the warlord?”, he asked. “Did he really have enough food for everybody?”, I asked in return. “Yes he did.”, Said Father Joe. “Then he should have saved everybody, not just those that believed in him.”, I answered.
Decide for yourself? Ha ha ha ha ha ... Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Edited by AdminAsgara, : No reason given.

That's ok jar I don't understand anything you say either.
But you never questioned anything. You just followed what you were supposed to follow, what you were led into by your liberal teachers. You never questioned them, you never questioned the conclusions they led you into. You fell for a parody of inquiry. Edited by AdminAsgara, : No reason given.

Doesn't bother you all those leading terms and tendentious implications in this made-up story that are a total misrepresentation of God, which lead to only one possible conclusion. Neither does it jar.

My criticism is that it's a blatant transparent misrepresentation of the Bible, a blasphemous denigration of God as a "warlord" told by a revisionist liberal, and it forces one to only one conclusion, which a kid has no ability to resist.

Well, if you like, let's say it doesn't bother about the BIble at all. Why should it? It's just a liberal "Christian" making up the story, who couldn't care less about the only source of knowledge of God. Just make up your own God, call him a "warlord" set up a story that makes only one action desirable, and brainwash a kid with it. You're right, it doesn't require anything about the Bible. My mistake.

No, it's no better than that. Either way you've got a brainwashed kid.
