Simple. You people want to put gay people in jail for simply being gay. And since god hasn't struck you dead yet, it's proof enough for me that god doesn't exist.

Once upon a time, I had this very discussion with... I think it was Ray Martinez. I'm not sure. But he did give me a perfectly good answer for this dilemma. He said that in the bible god did say that he reveals himself to all of mankind at one time or other. In other words, those people who lived in South America in 900 CE had the holy spirit revealed god to them but they refused accept god into their lives. Unfortunately, I never got anything more specific than that. But apparently, every single person in history of the world has had god revealed to him/her at some point. But they refused to accept god and therefore deserved to go to hell.
I've seen any number of Christians twist and squirm, trying to avoid the inescapable conclusion that this is a totally revolting, unjust set-up. So again, why do you call this God who plays this sort of game good and loving?

Do I have to start voting republican or protest at colleges with the "god hates fags" sign?
Mankind only has to accept the offer of a free full pardon to receive that redemption.

You just reminded me of a sore memory from college. I was taking a literature class and we were reading Dante's Paradise Lost. For the essay, I made the argument that the people Dante encountered in the levels of hell continued to commit the sins they were put there for. During my one on one with the professor, he tore me to pieces about this very idea. Clearly, at least some early Christians believed that a person's chance for salvation did not end at death. Why no other Christians embrace this idea is a complete mystery to me. Anyway, the point is I think it's been universally accepted, not just by christians, that you can't continue to sin or find salvation after your death. Nothing you do matters after you die.

This says a lot about the nature of man and woman. A woman by nature is suppose to be gullible and follow bad advice. How else do snake oil salesmen make their living? A man by nature is suppose to jump off a cliff along with the woman because he thinks with his *bleep*.

My hatred towards supernaturalism is along the same line as my hatred of pink unicorns and goblins. I do have the right to hate the non-existent, right?
I've noticed a air of hatred towards supernaturalism on these forums. It is quite unpleasant actually.

Sorry that my message didn't get through. Hmm, so you hate the non-existent, right? In other words, considering the non-existent don't exist, so neither does my hate for them.
Do you hate ignorance?
I don't know what you are talking about. But I absolutely love brother Peter Popoff. Alleluia!

I'm sorry, but I could have sworn your own bible says Adam didn't know good or evil before he ate the fruit. Here, let me quote it for you. Adam knew enough about God's goodness to make the right choice. Gen 2

My apologies for not making it clear enough yet again in the last post. On what basis do you hate something you've never seen? Have you ever seen your hatred? Touched it? Well, I think your hatred is non-existent as well. Therefore, you hate your hatred of non-existent things. No wonder evolutionists are what they are. I don't hate supernaturalism just like I don't hate any other non-existent thing like a goblin.
That video is absolute dung. That is NOT Christianity, NOT the teaching of the Bible, NOT authentic preaching, NOT worthy to be seen. Prosperity gospel is pseudo gospel. Jesus doesn't promise you $ 47000 if you trust in Him. He says the world will HATE you if you trust in me. Which is precisely what I get on these forums. I tell you, God will punish these false christians so much for demeaning His Gospel that smoke from hell will choke angels sitting in heaven watching them burn!! Idiotic video, wasted my precious time.
Give me a break. If anything, it's the world that hates us atheists. Currently, a politician can commit political suicide by either admitting he's gay or he's an atheist. Being an atheist automatically makes you unelectable. And the next harder group to get elected into a public office is the gays. So, please, stop deluding yourself with this persecution complex. I freely admit this is at heart a christian nation, which is why I always worry in the back of my mind that one day christians might actually drag my wife and me out of our bed, hang us on a tree, and light us on fire for witchcraft or some other christian bullshit.
SO, are videos of this kind where your knowledge of Christianity comes from?
I grew up in a christian conservative family. After spending the first 20 years of my life hating gay people, I finally realized that religion only made me hate. I've said this many times on this forum. Christians usually claim to have the moral high ground. I beg to differ. I personally think that religion in general is evil at heart and a threat to human rights. And I will spend my last dying breath preventing you people from persecuting others like you've always done in the past. Added by edit. People donated to this guy 23 million dollars in one year. You want to talk about hating ignorance? See, how come I don't see you people protesting against guys like this? How come I always see you people protesting against the gheys? Where are your moral high grounds?

Jesus H Christ, do you like playing dumb?
dennis writes: quote:I'm not sure where we are in the Bible. Which book and chapter are we talking about? Stop playing dumb. Joshua 6 NIV - Now the gates of Jericho were securely - Bible Gateway

there is no mention of FORCED sex.
Do you play dumb on purpose or are you this ignorant of your own bible? Why do you think they only spared the virgins but killed everyone else, including little boys? Do you honestly think they spared the virgins so the those virgins could wash the dishes only?
However, in Genesis 34:1-7, a rape does occur. A man named Shechem rapes Dinah, the daughter of Leah. And in chapter 7:
Picking and choosing what you want to hear? "And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it; and the men were grieved and very angry, because he had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacobs daughter, a thing that ought not to be done." This verse clearly says that rape is disgraceful in Israel, and that the brothers and father of Dinah were upset. Shechum asks for Dinahs hand in marriage, and Jacob says no, because he raped her. This shows that it was not socially acceptable to rape. Rules of war would be somewhat different. Deut. 21;Deuteronomy 31:7,8,14,23;34:9 NIV - Atonement for an Unsolved Murder - If - Bible Gateway

Before I reply directly to your message, I need to get sidetracked a little in order to better convey my point.
Having been raised by a holocaust denier, I have had the pleasure of meeting some holocaust deniers in my life time. The most common misconception people have about holocaust deniers is that deniers deny outright that the holocaust ever happened, and that they are unpleasant people. Contrary to that belief, all holocaust deniers I have met are quite pleasant people. In fact, they could be the kindest people you've ever met. The most common themes I've observed coming from holocaust deniers are that (1) they don't believe it was to the extent that conventional history teaches us, (2) they think what was done to the Jews were for the greater good of Europe, and (3) it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. When I read your post, I couldn't help but notice that you used all 3 of these themes to justify genocide and rape.
dennis writes:
What a horrible way to defend genocide. Shame on you for even trying to defend genocide. The people that were killed were not saved, and did not pay for their sins, and under the covenant with Abram (or Abraham), God delivered the land to his decendants. Are you telling me that even those 2 year olds deserved to die because they were also sinful? What about those 2 months old? How about the unborn? You've defended genocide by (1) dumbing down on the severity of the situation, (2) claiming that those people deserved to be exterminated, and (3) made it sound so lightly with your words. Again, shame on you for even trying to justify murdering 1 year olds and pregnant women. Since I'm a pro-lifer, I believe that those unborn babes were also innocent people who were murdered who deserved much better than people like you who would pass off genocide so lightly. YOU MAKE ME SICK.
So I suppose to answer your question, the virgins were kept not to be raped, but to become members of Gods people (though the Bible does not say whether they were raped or not, this action would be contradictory to the teachings of Jesus, and the Ten Commmandments, that say to love your neighbor as yourself). The story of Jacobs daughter being raped also implies, that since Jacob and his sons were angry about the rape, it was not socially acceptable to rape, especially within Gods tribes.
Again, you (1) dumbed down on the severity of what was done to those virgins, (2) gave some sorry-ass excuse for rape, and (3) pass it off so lightly as if it wasn't that big of a deal. Try to imagine this. Suppose you have a wife, 2 sons, and 2 daughters. One of your daughter is married and pregnant. My god tells me to go to your home to kill you, your wife, your 2 sons, and your pregnant daughter. But I'm allowed to keep your 13 year old virgin daughter so that I could "marry" her and incorporate her into my tribe. Again, shame on you for trying to justify rape. YOU MAKE ME SICK. Please stay away from my wife. And if we ever have children, please stay away from them as well. Why am I not making more of an argument? Because someone like you who sees nothing wrong with genocide and rape is a waste of time. Your sense of moral is all screwed up. There isn't much I can say that will make you see that genocide and rape are wrong. I can only hope that you will never have the opportunity to act out your sociopathic nature.
