Instead of wailing like a banshee how about provide the evidence.
Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

Oh the evidence is thick, and I've used some of it here. You've said that many times in many threads on the Catholicism issue, yet not once can I recall you actually having posted evidence. You make a bunch of claims, refer to "lots" of evidence, say you've "used some of it" in the current thread while nobody can identify any evidence of the sort, and then you move on. The defining characterstic of Christianity is the belief that Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah of Jewish prophecy. There have been many, many spinoffs, some of which are still around, many of which are not. But if you believe that Jesus was the Messiah, you're a Christian. Full stop. You're simply trying to exclude from the club everyone who isn't part of your branch of Christianity. But we already knew that you aren't Catholic, Faith - we know that there are strong differences between what you believe and what Pope Francis believes. But you both believe that Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah. That's what makes you both Christians, even if you disagree on literally every other issue. The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion (either as being the received opinion or as being agreeable to itself) draws all things else to support and agree with it. - Francis Bacon "There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers A world that can be explained even with bad reasons is a familiar world. But, on the other hand, in a universe suddenly divested of illusions and lights, man feels an alien, a stranger. His exile is without remedy since he is deprived of the memory of a lost home or the hope of a promised land. This divorce between man and his life, the actor and his setting, is properly the feeling of absurdity. — Albert Camus "...the pious hope that by combining numerous little turds of variously tainted data, one can obtain a valuable result; but in fact, the outcome is merely a larger than average pile of shit." - Barash, David 1995.

Faith writes: The Bible is sufficient evidence for me. Once you believe the Bible is God's word you know the God who inspired it and you don't judge God. Too many here have the effrontery to judge God by their own fallen intellect and corrupted moral sense -- They have no fear of God which is the beginning of wisdom -- but a believer knows better. دين writes:
The Koran is sufficient evidence for me. Once you believe the Koran is Allah's word you know Allah who inspired it and you don't judge God. Too many here have the effrontery to judge Allah by their own fallen intellect and corrupted moral sense -- They have no fear of Allah which is the beginning of wisdom -- but a believer knows better.

No, the defining characteristic of true Christianity was spelled out by the Reformers. It's salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone and the Bible is the sole authority. Catholicism denies all this, in fact they anathematize it in the Council of Trent which has never been rescinded, and they certainly deny that the Bible is the sole authority, as they put Church tradition on a par with the Bible, or really, above it. They also claim the Pope is the vicar of Christ which means substitute for Christ which is blasphemy, and that he is infallible which is blasphemy, and that Mary was a perpetual virgin, which is a lie, and that she is equal to Christ as co-redemptrix which is blasphemy and that Catholics can ask her to intercede for them which is prayer which is impossible, and for years they required their faithful to abstrain from meat on Fridays which is condemned in the Bible, and their priests to abstain from marriage which is condemned in the Bible and in fact is the cause of all the sexual crimes committed by priests down the centuries including the homosexuality and pedophia. Merely believing that Jesus is the Messiah is hardly sufficient.

I am of the opinion - illusion or not - that we can and ought to try to change the bad parts of reality. If reality included a tyrannical god then the moral thing to do would be to challenge his tyrany, not kowtow to it. Morality requires trying to do what's right, whether it's possible or not. I agree... The grace of this God is that "he" is rationally understandable. That has alloower man to figure out His Natural Laws and use them to advantage. "He" has a son called Truth, born out of His ever unfolding next frame of existence. As we discover the Facts-of-Life by discerning this Truth, we are able toi develop the amazing technological advantages that are slowly creating the heaven on Earth which we who avoid extinction will be Born Again into.

If you have no evidence for your rants about Ireland, why don't you just say so instead of wasting pixels.

People who do not read comprehensively, and sckim through the Bible, allowing questions to rise up in their mind, but failing to research the answers will say dumb stuff like you posted. They tend then to deny the wisdom of scripture, and spread those doubts as if they are onto some great insight. If you examine the ancient systems of Animal Taxonomy, you would discover that locomotion, not anatomy, was the way they differentiated and group the animals togethr. Insects, birds, bats, etc are allinluded in the Hebrew word that the KJV Bible interpretors translated as "birds."

?That is just a play on words. Its Christian gooble-de-gook that clouds the FACT, that the Grace of God is Truth. "I am the Truth,"... is the grace of God that saves mankind. Titus 2:11For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

How do u rationalise problems such as those posed by herod/quirinius, and other inaccuracies that make the bible seem man made rather than divinely dictated?
There are no contradictions. First read the text comprehensively like I do.Then double check the definitions of the words which seem unclear in the meaning or context. With whole verses that appear to you as contradiciton, google the verse and read commentary.

Those are all differences in specific dogma, Faith. You can try to make your own definitions all you want, but the rest of the world includes Catholics, Protestants, Mormons, and other faiths under the heading of "Christian" because they all believe that Jesus of Nazareth was the Jewish Messiah. What you're doing is like trying to say that redheads can't be women, when the defining attribute of being a woman is not related to her hair color.
