Would it be a good thing, that clicking on "Submit Reply" would result in a "preview" being opened? This would hopefully help members catch their dBCode errors (which would be highlighted in red).
Or perhaps just a "Submit Reply" blockage, and an automated "preview" if there are dBCode errors? Adminnemooseus

I think that sounds like a great idea, moose. I sometimes click 'Submit Reply' too quickly myself. Perhaps the code could be written in such a way that no 'Submit Reply' button appears unless a preview window has been opened.

Something along these lines has been on my list for some time. I hold off because I'm not sure how strict to be.
Should it be advisory, e.g., "dBCode errors exist, post message anyway?" Plenty of dBCode errors could slip through with this approach. Or should it be strict, e.g., "dBCode errors exist, they must be fixed before you can post this message." Computers have been thrown out windows for less. I *could* make it a user option, so members could select the level of automated checking they want. But that might not satisfy the sensibilities of some board administration pedants (I count myself among them) who are easily annoyed by sloppy posts. Anyway, it's already on the list.

Admin asks:
quote: I think they'd be less likely to slip through if the only option available at the bottom of the first edit window is 'Preview'. The poster would then be forced to view his post at least once before attaching it to the thread. Once 'Preview' has been clicked once, the 'Post' button would become available. There is no list of forums where guests can post. It is pretty frustrating to keep getting the "you do not have posting rights on this forum" message without any easy way to find out where you can post a query. How about having the above message list which forums are allowed?
NOTE: I just changed my e-mail listed under RAZD and got booted off with a notice that a new password was sent to my e-mail -- it is also missing as are all the notification ones, so I have registered a new version to use until it gets straightened out. ps -- can you (admin) e-mail my RAZD password to RAZD8@yahoo.com? that's all for now. you also might want to have a list of common errors
like using "{" instead of "

I would like to regain access to my old identity:

(If you can access passwords, you will see that I have changed the password for this persona to the same as the previous one for RAZD.) we are limited in our ability to understand by our ability to understand RebelAAmerican.Zen[Deist

All fixed. The RAZD8 account has been merged into the RAZD account. Ignore any email you receive about a new password, you're original password is still in effect. Your email address is now razd8@yahoo.com.

I noticed this in a message somebody had edited and confirmed it in one of my own sig test posts.
If you edit a message the format of the 'message edited' line is :
This message has been edited by MangyTiger, 01-13-2005 22:57 AM 22:57 AM seems a bit of a strange time to me (it was 22:57 or 10:57 PM when I edited it so the time is right - just the 24 hour vs. AM/PM format isn't). Confused ? You will be...

yep got it all going fine. thanks.
suggestion: have the reply window open in another {window\page}, so that reference back to previous posts is easier?

It seems that after you post a message that the blue {light\button} signals that you have unread messages on that thread: your own.
Shouldn't it show up as read when it is posted? Or is this because I regularly get rid of all cookies etc? (it didn't happen that time) This is particularly noticable when it is "on" and the last message is my message (same number) ... can that be filtered? This message has been edited by RAZD, 01-22-2005 16:13 AM yep, clearing the cookies does it. This message has been edited by RAZD, 01-22-2005 17:21 AM

The thread tracker cookie is updated after you post, so you'll never see a blue dot because of a message you posted yourself.
If you delete cookies then the thread tracker cookie will be deleted with all the rest, and you should see blue dots for every thread posted to in the last 48 hours.
