Re: Charlie, why won't you answer this question?
quote:
Just a word of advice:
If you expect to do well in any decent Philosophy program at University, you really need to step up your logic and argumentation skills.
You are in for a rude awakening.
Well now that you bring it up, I was thinking of sticking with my roots, and my Lord, take up some theology instead. Philosophy as a minor most likely.
I don't know, I think you said that because my idea burns in your mind, it shows you that within the idea you choose to argue for and represent there is so much ugliness involved that simply doesn't exist.
This, within the interactions supposed by the idea of human evolution. About your question regarding genetics, and natural selection, I know that these things exist as part of an imperfect world, but I do not believe that the social implications of evolution exist, therefore evolution does not exist.
quote:
Do you accept the following facts?:
1) Organisms reproduce
2) The offspring are not genetically identical..
Yes
quote:
3) Not all offspring survive to reproduce.
Yes
quote:
4) Offspring who's inherited genetic traits confer an advantage to reproductive success will be more likely to have their own offspring survive to reproduce.
Sure, now pull the trap, or tell me the relevance.

I am smiling.

Re: Uniqueness
Why?
It isn't tangible as a species is, it is an idea, and a feeling. Unless you're using another definition.

I am smiling.

With this thought you forget God's afterlife
Your point was about the strife and stuggle of mortal life, nothing to do with afterlife. You are darting about with barely any notion of where your own argument is leading you.
please answer.

God would not give a world of competitive strife and struggle
Wasn't it your god that created this world of struggle and strife? if you think he didn't explain why you think that.

Do you think through waht your brother or anyone else tells you, or do you just regurgitate?

Re: Uniqueness
Why could that not evolve? What is the mechanism that would prevent feelings from being the result of evolution?

I am taking a sociology class at Dutchess Community College. Some points relate to this study.
I would share some thoughts.
Wouldn't be able to right now though.
I told Charlie he should take this class, he's already into it, it looks like.

Re: Uniqueness
Tell me what the word evolve means.
I am sort of thinking of evolution as in a a change over time in regards to a living organism, its species.
I'm guessing you believe love can change over time, gradually becoming something else. Love doesn't change, the context of love can, but I don't think love itself as an idea, a feeling actually changes to fit PEOPLE, people can change, but I believe that love stays the same, a feeling of caring, and a beautiful thing, that I can;t really describe.

I am smiling.

Re: Uniqueness
I don't have any problem with anything you said. But also, see no reason that such capabilities could not arise along with evolution.
GOD, Christianity and the TOE are not mutually exclusive.
Who among us is going to tell GOD that he cannot use evolution as his prefered method?

Re: Uniqueness
quote:
Who among us is going to tell GOD that he cannot use evolution as his prefered method?
His son.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
"The days of Noah", for evolution to be true and not creation noah wouldn't have existed, and would be part of a myth used by Jesus to make a point. Jesus believed in creation, he was there.

I am smiling.
