Well, since you asked.
If a band of thieves is carrying on in a brothel having a good time and making their plans... Do you think they would be annoyed and feel derailed to have a preacher come into their midst and remind them in point blank terms of the error of their ways? Not if he's hilarious.
Would they repent and accept his sound counsel? Not if the soundest counsel he can offer is a foaming-at-the-mouth rant followed by a melodramatic bout of self-pity. They'll just laugh.
Some will... No, those people will only be humoring him so he will stay calm and not hurt himself.
But many will plot in every conceivable way to undermine and discredit the preacher. And if given the chance, some will kill him if they think they can get away with it. Not as long as he's shooting himself in the foot. They will just watch in amazement, laugh, and hunt up a few bandages. __ Archer All species are transitional.

If a band of thieves is carrying on in a brothel having a good time and making their plans... Do you think they would be annoyed and feel derailed to have a preacher come into their midst and remind them in point blank terms of the error of their ways? Only if the preacher actually had a clue what he was talking about. As long as the preacher is simply blathering and spouting inanities I doubt they would pay him much mind. What is really funny though is when that Preacherman THINKS he has found a band of thieves in a brothel and has actually found the FBI in a sting operation. Here the preacher is not just making a fool of himself he is actually standing in the way of GOOD.
But many will plot in every conceivable way to undermine and discredit the preacher. And if given the chance, some will kill him if they think they can get away with it. How absolutely ridiculous. Why is it the fundies always fall back on the old canard that folk are gonna kill them? Is it because they would if given the chance? Don't they realize that most folk including Atheists and even Thieves are more moral than many Christians? The preacher has nothing to fear from the thieves, after all, he has nothing of value either in this world or the next. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Jerry and George are at Monk's...
Seinfeld; So, I met a preacher man today. George; And? Seinfeld; Well, he said his religion was the only one that didn't contradict itself. George; How can dat be? How's dat even possible? Seinfeld; The other ones pretend to be ABOVE religion, take the pantheists... George; But that's a religion!! Seinfeld; Exactly! which means the pantheists MUST be lying! If they are liars, their religion must be wrong. Kramer comes in... George; Jerry said the pantheists are liars. Kramer; What's a pantheist? Edited by anastasia, : No reason given.

I am trying to drive a simple point forwards and am finding the communication between us difficult because you don't seem to be addressing the simple point I'm trying to put forward. I am not trying to refute your points against egotheism, I am just trying to show that you haven't actaully discussed anything that has anything to do with pantheism other than show that some pantheists may be egotheists. Some Christians may be egotheists too - why choose pantheism as the thread title? Why not just settle for the correct and accurate unambiguous label of 'egotheist'? Mod, I read your whole post. And I thought about your previous ones today. You are correct as far as I can tell. I had not even heard of egotheism until you brought it up. I have decided that the best way to handle this is to go back and re-title the thread. I will meet you halfway since those I have encountered do use pantheism as justification for their beliefs. So I will refer to it as egotheistic pantheism. It may be better called the new age, but the new age is an extension of pantheism. I apologize to you and any others who have been misrepresented. Rob

...spitting into the wind, one could describe your way as. No one ever said (at least not I) that the 'prince of the air', nor his disciples, would be impressed or moved by my rebellion against the wind. But you never know if a few might get sucked into the draft I make stides to produce as I move steadily in the other direction. Once there in the vortex, they might get a look at the wind blowing by and see it for what it is for the first time... I can't make it happen, I can only provide the eddie...

Although I am flattered to be mistaken for Jaderis, please be more careful in your attributions in the future. Such sloppiness detracts from your arguments. My apologies sir, I will try to do better. 2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

I think the above speaks for itself in terms of mudslinging, self-righteousness, and even paranoia. Tragic in a way. What? Telling the truth is now called 'mudslinging and paranoid' by the sophisticates of the 21st Century? No, it has been called worse since day one. And in the middle of this epoch, He was even nailed to a cross.

I watched my share of Seinfeld, but I missed that one! Hit's home don't it? Everybody likes to join in on the fun of mocking Christianity. It's the new craze if you wanna be in. But isn't it ironic that the same people that are in now, became bitter because they were not at one time. They have become what they hate. And like jar said earlier, they think that because 'we know' as Christ knew, that they want to kill us (in their hearts), we must be projecting that murderous intent. We only know because we once did ourselves. They should try mocking the Muslims in the same way... The Christian church of today knows full well that the battle is Spiritual. The sword is the word of God. I wield it with offense, and without apology. They can laugh all they want when I occasionally cut off one of my own limbs, but I am not the sword, I am only a rediculous and unworthy bearer of the honor. I know we are going to lose in temporal terms...

scottness writes: Everybody likes to join in on the fun of mocking Christianity. Dear Rob, you know I don't mean to mock, and I don't mean to mock you. I had a post there which I thought was going somewhere...but I have found that I am running into walls on all sides with this one. Either over-thinking, missing something, or getting lost in the terms, I am no closer to an answer after all of this...perhaps not an answer, but an understanding. It is not about being 'in' or 'out' to me. I only feel frustrated with you in the way that others might...it is so hard to tell what you are saying sometimes. And that is NOT because of my evil spirits or lack of Spirit. I don't want to see you cop-out of your position. I want to know exactly what you are saying with your own words. No allusions, no figurative language. No room for our own interpretations.

scottness writes: He was even nailed to a cross. Think about this. You are so stuck on your literal religious self-righteousness extremism you may very well have been the type that would have helped crucify the brazen radical and blasphemous heretic known as Yeshua. You could have rattled of your list of scripture, as given by god, as proof that this Yeshua was a heretic.

Everybody likes to join in on the fun of mocking Christianity. As a Christian I can say that so far only your posts have been mocking Christianity.
And like jar said earlier, they think that because 'we know' as Christ knew, that they want to kill us (in their hearts), we must be projecting that murderous intent. Why would anyone want to kill you? They might have pity on you, feel sorry for you, be amused by your posts, but no one would considering expending much effort over those who simply don't matter.
