Another request for a bump as Genesis will begin on Wednesday. It's not too late to start reading! I'm game. However, just Genesis alone is extremely voluminous as it covers several millenia. And theoretically we could be caught up discussing the first chapter for an entire thread, let alone the whole Bible from cover to cover. Since this is your baby, I'm suggesting that you control the tone and of the thread to keep it flowing. Does that sound like a reasonable request? we could be caught up discussing the first chapter for an entire thread as there is another thread for that at this exact moment, it would be off-topic in this thread.
you control the tone and of the thread to keep it flowing. control yourself. if people refuse to think of this as the study of a book, then they can piss off. as i said in the thread (which you should read, btw) people should present their notes from the book and then we discuss from there where people have interest. if it devolves into a fight about whether the flood happened or what the meaning of the word "create" is, i'd suggest people get booted.

Where is it posted? I was told that it wouldn't be up and running until Wednesday. in the OP of the thread?
I was suggesting that perhaps you should control the tone of the thread. i'm not an admin. control yourself. if you don't bring up the off-topic crap about genesis 1 or drag us into some other debate about whether this crap really happened or not, i guess it won't happen then, will it?

i'd say it's 11pm here and there's half a world already in tomorrow. i'm going to bed and i think we should open the bible study thread now so i can do my little example notes before i go to bed and people get all antsy.

It's a game I played sometimes when I was a kid, but now have taken a more serious approach. I want to learn the different stategies and tactics that are employed, and how best to use each in certain situations. I am a member at gameknot.com, and fairly routinely have my ass handed to me by more experienced, and brighter people. My questions are: if you play chess, what advice would you give a novice? What websites, books, exercise books, etc. would you recommend I take up? I have seen a few tips that are fairly common, and from what little I understand, are in no particular order: 1- protect your king2- control the middle 3- develop your pieces (knights, bishops, rooks(sp?) Lastly, I did see the EVC chess competetion thread, and saw this thread first, seeing it to be fit for these questions, as well. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you. websites and book referrals. no micro evolution (variations within a kind) jargon painted to look like macro evidence please. feed the troll please. btw by macro i mean whatever the foook you think happened to get us where we are now as humanoid. no speciation shaz either please. thanks alot i love you.

Welcome to EvC, Vashgun.
My favorite single web page is Douglas Theobald's 29+ Evidences for Macroevolution. I like it because not only does it give a brief description of several different threads of evidence in different fields of biology, but he also explains just what evidence means in science, and why these count as evidence in the theory-prediction-observation-confirmation model of how science works. I think this is important because many creationists don't understand what science is, how it operates, and why evolutionary biology fits into what is considered good science. My single favorite evidence (and, to me, most compelling - it was what made me say, "uh-oh," when I was still a creationist) is the nested hierarchical classification of the species. When you've read some of this page and digested it, join us in some of the other threads to discuss the issues. As far as good books go, I would recommend any of Stephen Jay Gould's earlier collections of essays when he wrote a column for Natural History: Ever Since Darwin, The Panda's Thumb, Hen's Teeth and Horse's Toes, and The Flamingo's Smile. Here I go,
Whilst reading many threads I have come to perhaps, a premature conclusion based on the review of the last few days. And that conclusion is that the majority of the users here and also the admins and mods are evolutionists. It is as if all the creationists have either deserted or been blasted away by the mighty power of the Law of Evolution. I have seen only 3 creationists post, and subsequently many evolutionist attack the poster with disdain and arrogance more fitting a small child. Also I was mocked numerous times in the chat feature by a member named Jar. I have found it difficult to start any threads due to the number of previous threads of similar topics. I came for a debate and was denied. I however, did not come to read volumes of pages of previous debates and the few I read disgusted me due to the lack of debate prowess and ignorance presented mainly by the creation minded. The lack of warmth and obvious monopoly coupled with the arrogance I since in every post leads me to the conclusion that this site is more an evolutionary think tank and not a open forum debate. To keep to the nature of the thread I will ask a question. Am I being irrational in my assessment?
