theodoric writes: Not surprisingly I do not think you will ever be able to provide an original attribution of this quote to Murrow. If you do you will be the first i can find. I have been questioning people on this since teabaggers have been popularizing it. I have been searching but have not been able to find any evidence to show it is a Murrow quote. But then again we know that that doesnt matter to you Everywhere on the web it is stated that murrow said this. He isn't the first person to say something similar to it though. If this many people think he said it, it is you who should come up with evidence that he did not say it.
theodoric writes: Do you know anything about Edward R, Murrow? Or are you parroting again. I don't ever parrot on here. Are you projecting your own faults onto me here. Seems like you are. It is your kind who don't have an original thought of their own. I know enough that Murrow is idolized by liberal cretins ad nauseum as if he were some kind of god. Liberals usually don't idolize conservatives. That is all I need to know. Edited by foreveryoung, : No reason given. Edited by foreveryoung, : No reason given.

If this many people think he said it, it is you who should come up with evidence that he did not say it. Are you fucking serious? Your evidence is it is posted on the internet? You want me to look at everything he ever said and to make sure he didn't say it. You really have no clue do you.

You have no evidence he said it.

IT BURNS!!!!!
I know enough that Murrow is idolized by liberal cretins ad nauseum as if he were some kind of god. And the attacks begin. I am a liberal and I don't give a rats ass about Murrow

WTF?? Any chance you will ever be right about anything or have anything to contribute about the topics?Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

No, not everywhere.Everywhere on the web it is stated that murrow said this. I considered responding to your Message 89, so I looked up that saying ("googled it"). I was looking for the date when Murrow might have said it, but I came up empty on that. There seems to be some doubt as to its origin. One suggestion was that mentioned by Theodoric, that it was due to de Jouvenel. It does seem to be all over the tea party web sites, where it is apparently some kind of slogan. In any case, you are using a slogan whose meaning you probably don't understand. And you are using it to draw unwarranted conclusions.Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves. ― Edward R. Murrow Quite so. I will not engage in you disputes about who actually said this first, but this is indeed why so many voters bend over, pull their pants down, and beg the rich to rape 'em good and hard.

Murrow obviously paraphrased from dejuvenal. It is not exactly the same quote. If you think some one else came up with that EXACT paraphrase, feel free to say who it was. Otherwise, why would everyone attribute that quote to murrow? Where there is smoke, there is fire. You say it is a tea party phenomenon. I am sure that people have been attributing that EXACT phrase to murrow long before the tea party ever got going.

I guess that all depends on who you are calling the "rich". Not all people who earn over 250,000 a year are raping you. Just becaue someone earns more money than you do, doesn't mean they are raping you. The economy is not a pie that must be divided up. What I get is not necessarily what was yours and vice versa.

Thank you for the economic truisms. Nonetheless, the fact remains that you and millions of other bleating sheep have been conned into voting for the wolves. I don't give a tuppenny damn whether the quote originated with Murrow or not, the fact is that whoever said it is described you perfectly. Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

Quite obviously, famous people will quote other famous people. Maybe Murrow did not originate that quote (please note that I am saying neither that he did nor that he didn't), but that alone would not mean that he never quoted it (not saying that he did, mind you). For example, there was a quote attributed to Mark Twain about lies, damned lies, and statistics, which apparently actually originated with Prime Minister Disraeli. However, whether you attribute it to Twain or to Disraeli, the words themselves should be able to stand on their own.
You know, the Father of the American Revolution, Thomas Paine, had something to say about this in his Age of Reason. It turns out that the value of a quote depends on one of two things:
But the works of Euclid are quite different. Even if it were to turn out that Euclid did not in fact write his works on geometry, that would make absolutely no difference whatsoever. The inherent value of Euclid's Elements is so self-evidentially and manifestly right and correct, that only a fucking idiot could even think to say otherwise. It would prove problematic to discuss these matters regarding Thomas Paine, since at that time he was in a french prison for attempting to export the American Revolution to a monarchial France. Obviously, the problem that Paine saw with

I have been voting because it is my civic responsibility to do so. There are only wolves running for office so that is all that I can vote for. I am anything but a sheep thank you very much. I just don't think that allowing "rich" people to keep the money they earn is allowing the "rich " to rape me. The people who are actually raping me are the ones in congress who are constantly writing new regulations and taxes. All that serves to do is constantly wear down the value of the dollar and make the cost of living go up and the cost of employment go up which drives the unemployment rate up.

The people who are actually raping me are the ones in congress who are constantly writing new regulations and taxes. Well, let me ask you a simple question. Since Obama took office, has your tax rate gone up or gone down or stayed the same? You should know, this is a question about you and your own money. Surely you must have noticed. You can look at your own tax returns. Has your proportional tax burden increased?

You have no original source of him saying at all like this.
If you think some one else came up with that EXACT paraphrase, feel free to say who it was. Otherwise, why would everyone attribute that quote to murrow? Because it is misattributed. SOmeone thought it would be cool if he said it and a bunch of morons believe everything they see on the internet. I repeat, until there is an original source there is no evidence he said anything like this. All you have a teapartiers claiming this.Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

You really need to learn about education and tax policies. Do you even know how people are taxed on income in the US? Do you understand the negative effects on concentrating wealth in the hands of the few? You keep making these assertions but have absolutely nothing to back them up. Regulations can have a stimulative effect on employment and the economy. I won't even start a conversation on the value of the dollar. That would take a text book. None of this is black and white no matter how much you and the rest of the teapartiers(be nice) want it to be.Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument.
