Re: no "Duh"
Us sceptics tend to be much kinder and generous hearted about other folk than you might be used to. We would assume that people were mistaken or had been deluded, more readily than labelling everyone a liar.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Re: no "Duh"
Deluded? As in delusional or psychotic?
You see, there you go again, assuming the worst in people. To delude someone means to deceive them into believing something that isn't true. It doesn't mean that the person who has been deluded is delusional or psychotic.
Be kind to folk - give the benefit of the doubt before classifying whole swathes of people as liars, delusional or psychotic.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Re: no "Duh"
I used to be agnostic. I believed that there was no way of knowing whether God was real. Until evil spirits had come into my life as a consequence of my sin. And then God, Jesus and some angels reached out to me. And now, I have no doubt that God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and angels are real. In fact, I have shown you real photographs of a chariot of God and the Holy Spirit.
You believe you have - but I believe you haven't, and the guys here have brought you a fair bit of evidence to back up my belief, rather than yours.
But hey, you're entitled to your belief. If you think your God's majesty and divine glory is to be found in an artefact on a photo, then go for it. If I had faith in a God, I think I would prefer to see his majesty and divine glory in the jaw dropping vastness and complexity of 14 billion years of an unbelievably huge and mind-numbing universe, that our race's finest minds are only beginning to truly understand. The God that created that universe would be one seriously impressive dude ! But artefacts on photos are good too.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Re: Undeniably Not Dust (Photograph)
If you commit suicide by blowing your face off with a shot gun you may not have a face in the afterlife.
So what you're saying is that the best way to go, is to OD on Viagra ?

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Nothing against those who believe, but when you have seen and heard someone, you do not say that you believe they exist, you say that you know they exist. Is this too complicated for you to understand?
Here's the difference. Sitting over there is my co-worker Jason. I spoke with him just now. I know he exists. (And with a nod to other threads about whether reality is real, I am using the word "know" in the sense that I am sufficiently certain about it not to engage in any fruitless trips down a philosophical rabbit hole about it).
If someone else told me he didn't exist, I'd wait for the punch line, or think they were deluded.
However, if pretty much everyone else I met told me he didn't exist, at that point I'd stop saying I know he exists, and book myself an appointment with a doctor.

Oh there are many of such faith, I agree.
But considerably fewer who believe they have seen what you believe you have.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

No more surprised than I would be at the number who told me they believe Jesus walked on water.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?
