Here is a softball question. Just what is accomplished by picking Fiorina as a running mate? Just what constituency does that tap into? Softball, huh? Why not. Carly can better appeal to the women's vote, though not by much, than Ted can though that would be balanced by losing some of the hardcore fundamentalists and the misogynistic knuckle-draggers that make up a good portion of his constituency. She is a fierce debater, an attack dog really, and can stir the passions of hatred in Cruz's supporters. She performed well in the initial candidates' debates against her male counterparts. She is a strong, though disagreeable, woman. Kinda like Hillary in that regard. That could help in the fight against Trump whom she has, in the past, gotten the verbal best on. And then there is the California connection, though she lost her ass in those campaigns. Hell, NoNukes, I have a difficult enough time understanding the nuances of logical decisions let alone irrational ones.

I'll never understand the way you choose your party candidates in the US.

Softball, huh? Well, no. I was being sarcastic because I know you really want the tough questions. I think Carly was picked primary to try to generate some Ted Cruz buzz on a news day that would otherwise would have been dominated by stories about Ted getting his butt whooped in five states. Any actual uplift to his campaign will be pure incidental. I note that many commentators feel this way. NPR interviewed reporters from both the Washington Times and the Washington Post, and the feeling of both reporters was that Ted was pulling off a stunt. ... Ted was pulling off a stunt. I can see that. Seems to me the importance and the fanfare of a VP selection wouldn't be wasted just for a momentary buzz, but this is Ted and, I suppose, he really has nothing more to lose. Looks like El Hairball may actually wrap this thing up by California.

So, there we have it. The GOP is going to nominate a punchline for President.

When Ted first announced his candidacy there were moans and groans throughout the party. They wished it wasn't so.
Well, you gotta be careful what you wish for.

When Ted first announced his candidacy there were moans and groans throughout the party. They wished it wasn't so. They are going to have plenty more chances to wish it isn't so. He's going to try again and again. When Ted first announced his candidacy there were moans and groans throughout the party. They wished it wasn't so. Well, you gotta be careful what you wish for. The way to have opposed Ted and Trump was to provide some better candidates. Should I conclude that the Republican party had a dearth of qualified clients? I think not. Instead the GOP created a situation where next to none of the qualified candidates were acceptable to the electorate. No moderates had any chance of being elected. Is it then that surprising that we ended up with a choice between Cruz and Trump? Edited by NoNukes, : No reason given. After Hillary's first term it will be interesting to see if the Republicans have learned anything from this disaster.

Delegate results - 1,237 needed for nomination
Trump on 1047 Cruz on 565 Kasich on 153 with 520 delegates still available. Despite Trump getting the highest voting percentages ever recorded he still doesn't even have as many votes as George W Bush. Nor is he sure to reach the 1237 target. Why is that? Ahhh yes voterless victories for Cruz.

With Ted out and Bernie so far behind these races are done. Donald and Hillary will be the two main candidates for president in November. Poor Carly. She lost two major races at the same time. And Kasich is coming in 4th in a two-man race. While the Democrats will hold a boring unifying coronation in Philly the real excitement in July will be in Cleveland at the Republican convention when we find out how many and who doesn't show up. Then there is always the Trump VP selection. That might be good for a laugh. Stay tuned. Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.

Maybe Hillary can convince Sanders to be her running mate. She's not likeable, but he sure is. In November that could also entice the younger generation of Democrats to go and vote instead of staying at home.

Then there is always the Trump VP selection. That might be good for a laugh. Most pundits are stating it will likely be Chris Christie. I wonder what their campaign song choice might be. My money's on 'This is the End' by The Doors.
