Looking at Real Clear Polices right now, if the current trends hold, Biden will become president. But just BARELY. We are talking a difference of just 3 or 4 electoral votes.
The Senate appears to still be Republican. But the Dems also lost five seats in the house thus far. They'll still have their majority, but it will be diminished. My big fear now is that it is so close in the swing states with the mail in voting, that Trump may ask the Supreme Court to intervene. Remember how that turned out in 2000?

Looking at the BBC site if everything goes the way predicted the margin may be even narrower. It may come down to the last state to post results.
Trump says he wants to stop the counts, but we’ll see if he does anything. Trump says a lot of things. The Texas court case where both State and Federal courts refused to invalidate over 100,000 legal votes gives me hope that the Supreme Court will not rubber-stamp any demand Trump makes (even if some of the Justices would do that). Contrary to Phat’s claim know perfectly well that Trump and some of his supporters will claim that the election was stolen if he loses. The rest of us will wait to see what happens - and what happened. )If the Post Office delays did disenfranchise many Americans - including those serving overseas in the armed forces - there should be questions asked. Especially as it seems that the delays were intentional).

Phat writes: Trump is positioned now in that he actually might win, which will set off the largest round of protests in History...you all will claim he cheated. Trump has been saying that the liberals cheated since before the bloody election and is still doing it! Are you deaf and blind? It looks like Trump is going to lose atm, you just watch what happens if he does. The fucking sky will fall in.
In my belief, it ios the liberal side that is more evil than the conservative side...though evil and rebellion exists within all humans. It's very, very hard to understand this position. Trump is objectively and obviously a self-centred, moral shit. There's never been worse in a democratic country, how on earth can you say what you say? Anybody less Christ-like would be hard to imagine. Do you really, honestly think that Jesus would vote republican. Honestly?Je suis Charlie. Je suis Ahmed. Je suis Juif. Je suis Parisien. Do you really, honestly think that Jesus would vote republican. Honestly? No. Jesus would be pro family and family values. He would likely not be for reparations and likely would be a nationalist more than a globalist...since He was a nationalist in regards to Israel. Not sure quite where He would fall politically. He would likely correct everybody. Well, it looks like Arizona got called for Biden. Nevada, michigan and Wisconson have biden leading. The absentee ballots needing to be counted are from high density democratic strongholds in those states.
If Trump takes PA, SC and Georgia, Biden still wins

Trump is a massive blowhard. He could potentially turn this into a fight just to save face. I wouldn't put it past him. Incidentally, as a sidebar: every pollster that was predicting the election results needs to be fired. I don't think I have seen any situation were the polls were so utterly wrong. I don't know if it was stupidity or bias. Maybe a bit of both. Even Nate Silver, who is supposed to be one of the smart ones, had Biden at 90% chance of winning and Trump at 10%. While the actual ratio turned out to be about 50/50.

I hope Biden wins as it looks he will. At this point I am beyond pissed, disappointed and shocked by what this country just revealed of itself. The right got rid of that Cheeto, correcting a mistake that should never have been made, and expecting to pay dearly for a couple terms as they re-group in a Democrat-led Washington, instead find themselves with a much stronger hand than expected at the behest of the voters.
Whether the Senate goes Democrat or not, and it doesn’t appear it will, we have to acknowledge from this past election that this would be temporary. The Republicans have the power of the public with them. This humanist was hoping our enlightened political zeitgeist would show itself in these proceedings. Not just Dump Trump but dump the whole religious-conservative Republican agenda. Or, at least make significant gains in both houses so the poison of the right-wing is pruned somewhat at least temporarily. Not gonna happen. We are not an enlightened society. Quite the opposite so things appear. We had stepped a bit deeper into the abyss of the fascist right-wing and, from their votes, Mom and Pop America didn't give a fucking shit. We care more for our conspiracy theories, our bravado, our gods and our guns than we do about each other let alone the broader scope of the whole human community. We have not advanced. What the people have shown us in this election is that we are a selfish society still chained to mysticism and majik, in love with our own national bravado, and don’t want to be bothered with details about what it takes to be decent citizens of this world. To the World, I am so sorry. Don’t wait up for us. We got a few generations yet to go. Pray for us. Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.Factio Republicana delenda est.

Jesus writes: But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. Sidon and Syria were not part of Israel but rather actually enemies. Jesus was NOT a nationalist.

My sister( a rare breed liberal Christian) says that she and her fiance are both saddened that so many people value their own self interests above the interests of the greater good. And I will admit that though I voted in favor of the side that was friendlier towards Social Security, I really dont mind if the Republicans maintain power...only because I fear that a Democratic Victory will lead to handing the Covid 19 and national debt bill to the US middle and working class rather than attempt to force the entire world to pay it off through trade wars and positioning advantageous to the small businessman of America. We have not advanced. What the people have shown us in this election is that we are a selfish society still chained to mysticism and majik, in love with our own national bravado, and don’t want to be bothered by any details that it might take to be decent citizens of this world. To the World, I am so sorry. Don’t wait up for us. We got a few generations yet to go. Pray for us. Thus I am admittedly selfish. I would fight any hint of reparations and sociological bills being presented to white America. I am not responsible for what my ancestors did and though I believe in basic human equality I am not in favor of an equal world. I favor competition and I feel that the hardest workers should prosper rather than be taxed to pay for all of the poorer folk on the planet. I have disagreed with your anti God stance and will continue to do so, though since you are asking everyone to pray I cant really disagree with you there. Perhaps it is I whom Jesus needs to rebuke. There is still a long way to go and it is still very very likely that Biden/Harris will win the Presidential race. The Senate though is far less certain. The Democrats will almost surely pick up two seats and if Harris becomes President of the Senate the situation changes dramatically.

The Republican attacks on democracy continue.
Seriously, how can any honest person support this?

There's your mistake. You are trying to associate honesty with "Republican."
"Honest Republican" makes even less sense than "hot ice" or "dry water" or "clean coal" or "creation science." Edited by dwise1, : "clean coal"

That is the fear the that the right wing is selling. However, that does not match the plans that were released by the biden campaign about directing the tax to people who earn more the 400K Don't let a bunch of rich people give you fear so that you let their interest go over yours.

No I did not know that. I learn something new every day. I have a close friend who is a Consewrvative and he has likely influenced me a lot. He says that what he disagrees with the liberal platform about is that what Republicans consider to be entitlements, Democrats consider to be rights. I think he despises the fact that many liberals expect to have the rights that he and his family had to earn.
I also have a close friend who is liberal...quite the opposite of the other guy. He is quite intelligent--is a rocket scientist at Ball Aerospace. He claims that many republicans are stupid and willfully ignorant and that they create conspiracy theories and untruths. Of course, he does not believe in God as does my more conservative friend and that weighs heavily un my appraisals. Granted, I think in generalizations and cliches, but I dont like the idea of people who expect something for nothing and seek to eliminate the middle class in the interest of helping the poor. And I think that sums up the general attitude of many Republicans whom I know. (Both of my friends are worth at least $500,000.00) Republicans fear higher taxes to support what they see as a lazy and uneducated group of people who want to get entitlements as rights and move up in class. The republicans believe that these people need to earn it.Now. ...of course on the other hand, the republicans want to do away with Social Security which working class folks like me need to retire with. So I guess that's why I vacillate and am a moderate politically. I want whats best for Phat from both extremes."A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." ~Mark Twain " *** far from science having buried God, not only do the results of science point towards his existence, but the scientific enterprise itself is validated by his existence.- Dr.John Lennox The whole war between the atheist and the theist comes down to this: the atheist believes a 'what' created the universe; the theist believes a 'who' created the universe.- Criss Jami, Killosophy
