Re: still enjoying already?
So instead of saying how the water can remain potable "for little over a year" you focus on the number. Curious, but not unexpected.
Tell you what: figure out exactly how many days the ark floated, then tell be how the water can be kept potable for that length of time.
Enjoy.

Re: potable probability
now answer the question.
salt, silt, disease from all the dead animals, pathogens from all the "effluent" from the ark, all floating around the ark.
feel free to fill up a bath tub, climb in it and live there for a week using it for a toilet and your source of drinking water as an experiment to "test the waters" ....

Re: It's starting to make nonsense
how many days
how much water
how much fire wood to boil the water
where do you have evidence for any "hibernation" scenario? especially for it being able to be induced in animals that do not normally hibernate .... like elephants ....
where do you have evidence for any rain after the 40 days? ... I would think an "inerrant" record would not be guilty of the error of omission, but hey, that would be me.
an unpowered boat floating for days on end in it's own sewage along with all the silt and mud stirred up and the necessarily salty content that would be enough to render it unpotable (even if it is not as salty as the current oceans are or have a mechanism to explain why the ocean is so salty now when the water that formed it was not).
I think you are just trying to make it up as you go (again) ... perhaps you should read over all the other posts on this thread instead of repeating the same mistakes.
(added by edit}and do try that bathtub experiment -- boild the water all you want to ...
enjoy.

Re: It's starting to make sense
show that it is possible to make an elephant hibernate. people study bears to see if it can by applied to any other animal. so far no luck.

Re: It's starting to make nonsense
ark writes:
I think they dumped it out, wouldn't you? maybe the currents were so violent that every time they dumped it, it was out of sight in seconds. Ah, lets sit down for some nice cool rainwater filtered down from the air slits!
those same currents would keep the silt and debris and muck from all the dead animals and organic matter in constant turmoil as well so it would be like floating in a cess pool. sewage floats, so does the ark, whatever the currents did to the sewage it would do to the boat.
sorry your still sitting in your own sewage in the bathtub
that rainwater is now full of bacteria that have grown in the moist collection system ...

easy solution to school
there is an easy solution to the school 'problem' for those that feel as you describe: home school or religious school.
with my blessing.

Re: easy solution to school
One fatal error to your statement: not everyone that believes in God has a problem with evolution as a science that should be taught in public schools, not even everyone that believes in the bible has a problem with evolution as a science that should be taught in public schools, in fact surveys show 88% of americans feel evolution should be taught.
Therefore it is not a matter of "those who wish to ignore" these things.
The point is that if you do not want you or your kids subject to science then take them out of school where science is taught.

Re: Well, ok
overboard is a matter of reference ...
in the bathtub experiment you represent the ark and the tub represents the ocean (except that it is not salty water ... at the start)
and there is nothing as fun as messing around in boats

gee, and I thought the bible said "everything that was not in the ark died" or words to that effect ... or do we get another 'whatever' interpretation here ...

Re: ever learning never coming to a knowledge of the truth
hearing numbers and being able to cite them is a different matter.
There is actually data from a nationwide survey done by the People for the American Way specifically on this topic, from their website
(National Poll, hyperlinked new):
Main Finding: The overwhelming majority of Americans (83%) want Evolution taught in public schools. While many also support the in-school discussion of religious explanations of human origins, they do not want these religious explanations presented as science. They would like Creationist ideas to be taught about in classes other than science (such as Philosophy) or discussed as a belief. Only a minority (fewer than 3 in 10) want Creationism taught as science in public schools.
Looks like I remembered the number wrong, but not by much. The survey results also say: "Only a minority of Americans want both Evolution and Creationism taught as science, or want only Creationism taught at all."

Re: see sea life go
please cite specific source for life outside the ark to survive, you claim to be the expert here. so lets have a citation that says something survive the flood outside the ark.

not good enough
F-
I asked for a specific citation that something lived
specifically I asked for one section that says something lived outside the ark.
not open to your or anyone else's interpretation.
a passage that specifically says the fish survived would do.
and assuming further miracles to explain given miracles seems like shoddy work was involved. certainly it has no place in science classes in school.
KJV gen 7:23 writes:
Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; men and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.
To me the "face" of the earth is what you see from space, both the land and the sea, and that all living things including those living in the land and in the sea were wiped out and the only things left living were in the ark: there is no reference of any other "ark" or escape clause.

Re: how about it?
now give the citation for how god controlled the currents and everything
specifics, not conjecture, is needed or you are just making it up to make it work. that is not the way rational thought is used, that is not the way science does things.
either it is rational and scientifically possible OR it is in the bible OR it is just a private fantasy.
private fantasy ... now their is someting to have in science class.
