Author | Topic: Why is Israel getting away with these atrocities? | |||||||||||||||||||||||

Personally I can't say why Israel holds the prisoners it does. It is entirely possible that some should not be held prisoner even by Israeli law. It is far more likely that Hezbollah considers the improsinment unjust.
However the fundaemntal problem is that you set all other considerations aside when you said that "getting people back" takes priority over everything else. Israel is not simply attacking Hezbollah. They are bombing the airport in Beirut, even attacking Tripoli even further away from the actual fighting. They even hit a Lebanese army barracks although the Lebanese army is not involved in the conflict (and has orders not to return fire). So long as you take the attitude that Israel can do whatever it likes in the name of "getting their people back" even if said actions are killing innocents with no chance of actually contributing to the supposed objective, then you aren't in any position to pass moral judgement on others.t

Hezbollah may not see or care about the difference, but I do. I won't say that Israel is justified for holding every single prisoner, but they are definitely not holding hostages. If a person is being held without justification how exactly is this different from being held hostage?

Hey Crash.
Was it care and restraint when they airbombed a convoy of ambulances? Wow. Do you have a source for this? I would really like to read more on this. Moreover, about a week ago, I read a story in the LA Times of four or five Israeli rockets destroying a three-story house of a Shi'ite (sp) cleric. Thirteen people were "dismembered", including ten children. One was just an infant, six-months old, and another was only three. It's interesting to note that, according to the article, this house and only this house was razed. No other buildings or houses in the vicinity were damaged or destroyed. Seemed pretty deliberate. From what I saw on television, not a peep was mentioned about it. Sad, really. Edited by Infixion, : No reason given.

Many of us fundies pray for the interests of Israel because this jinxed "Soldier of God" commands *superstitious* allegiance. Many fundies deduce that a country's blessings are necessitated by such an allegiance, based on history. I agree.
Biblical history has repeatedly demonstrated it is stupid to persecute Israel once they’ve been in battle. Consider the books of the old testament: E.g., Esther (where the word ”God’ is not mentioned once) and the fall of Haman's house. The Persian king *allowed* Israel revenge on the *enemy* without interfering. Kings of Babylon and Persia sympathized repeatedly with Israel in hopes that their kingdoms would enjoy divine blessings. Albeit fundies (including Paul the apostle (latter book of Romans) believe most Jews are actually damned to a greater hell seeing they deny Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Israel (via Abraham, etc.) is also the father of fundies. The fundy *Luke Skywalker* hopes that this *Darth Vader* will someday repent. Islam/Ashtoreth, on the other hand, is NOT my father. It seriously behooves me to support Israel, thus. Edited by Philip, : Typos

It is both the nature of Hezbolla terrorists to launch rocket attacks from civilian areas and mosques. Likely they use rescue vehicles to move war equipment et al. Not only that but they will make sure their people get the need supplies before the Lebanese Christians and other noncombatants get them.

So according to Buz if you think some folk are terrorists it is okay to go ahead and and bomb civilians because terrorists might be hiding among civilians. Yup, seems like the Christian thing to do Buz.

Only ruthless coward terrorists operate with civilians. They and they alone are responsible for the people they are causing to be killed and now on the news Israel has dropped leaflets WARNING all civilians to head north but the Hezbollah cowards are setting up checkpoints prohibiting their flight so they can continue to use them for cover. This leaves Israel no choice. Unfortunately they can't let the terrorists protect themselves in this fashion so Israel has no choice in order to protect themselves and win the war.

This leaves Israel no choice. Bullshit Buz. Rank Bullshit. Of course there are other choices than blowing up ambulances. Hell, even during real War the armies tried to respect Red Cross units. Aslan is not a Tame Lion
