BZZT? Is that your summation on each discussion? Mighty childish if you ask me. At least when I talk about your impending doom it is backed up by a reference. Yours is just conjecture and a faint attempt at humor.
I've never talked to Homer but I'm sure he used places that were in existence in his sotries just as Stephen King and John Grisham do today. Being good writers, they know that this lends a sense of reality to their creations.
I have answered your questions as I see fit but you fail to accept my explanations. Maybe I should shake the dust from my feet and move on.

Mr. Administrator. Is foul language and profanity acceptable in this forum? I thought it was to be an intelligent discussion group. Use of profanity lacks intelligence, not to mention a limited vocabulary.

Cora,
I used to live in Farmington so I know of shiprock very well. As for it being a bird, that's a BIG bird AND a BIG story. It's Indian folklore. Did someone write about seeing the big bird? Are there pictures of it anywhere? At least Judges records the actions and experiences of Gideon. Your argument holds not water. Sorry.

Believing in God's creation or that JOSHUA (not Gideon) could stop the sun takes faith. THAT'S how we can accept these stories. It takes more faith to believe we can from lower life forms than from a Creator. Evolution has over 10,000 missing links to make it feasible.
There's evidence that Darwin recanted of his thoeries on his death bed. Jack Chick has the tract at his website.

Gideon is a judge in the history of Israel. Outside of the Bible there are numerous sources that record geneologies and annuls of history. One is the Jewish historian Josephus. What if I say I don't believe Christopher Columbus ever existed? Does that nullify his achievements? That's 500 years ago. You probably believe the universe is 4.2 billion years old (give or take a million)but where is that corroborated?

Since God made the sun is He not able to stop it? He parted the Red Sea, made a giant fish swallow Jonah, set a bush on fire but kept it from burning up. The list goes on and on. You can't use science to explain the Bible. It defies science over and over again. Besides, God made all the natural laws so He can bend them any time He chooses.

"And "stopping the sun" is a BIG story and a BIG violation of the conservation of angular momentum and several other laws of physics"
Great point. Let's talk about that law. A body set in motion will continue in motion unless acted upon by an outside force. If a body is spinning clockwise and continues spinning in that direction and explodes all pieces from said body will ALSO spin clockwise. If the Big Bang is true, why do two of the nine planets spin the opposite way of the others? BTW. where did all the matter in the universe come from and what caused it to compress let alone explode. Is THIS anymore feasible than Creation?

OOHH! BIG argument. I'm convinced. If God didn't make the sun , where did it come from? Deuce!

AHH, but Judges DOES! YOu would not have even broguht it up if it wasn't for the Bible. It's interesting that the Bible has come under attack more than any other book in history. If it's just fairy tales, why waste time here talking about it? I know my mission but what is yours?

Re: Hmmm.....
Pogo,
First of all, there has been NO evidence presented to the contrary just opinions and suppositions. I HAVE a source and it's not opinions. My source is God's word.
Why do you obey the laws of your land (if you do)? Is it not out of fear of being punished? What is wrong with serving or worshipping out of fear? Do you thwart the pagans for worshipping out of fear? YES, I fear God. "It's a fearful thing to fall into the hands of an angry God." I also love Him because He loves me. (see my avitar)

Re: wow
" But with regard to your testimony, why did god spare you, yet thousands die needless deaths everyday (including the truely innocent, childen)? "
You're asking the wrong person. Ask God, He spared me. Maybe it was to come here and help you find the path back.
AS far as your being a saved agnostic, why did you get saved? Thessalonians predicts a falling into apostasy in the last days. Maybe you are part of THAT crowd.
Lord, bring Podo back if he/she is your child. Amen
I hope it helps.
The death of innocents is the natural result of us living in a world governed by sin. What about all the Kurdish children that Saddham killed? Is that God's fault? Why don't you hold him accountable for his atrocites? Why is God blamed for all the death and sorrow in this world when man brings it on himself? Is that fair? Point the finger in the RIGHT direction.

Re: Did Joshua Stop the Sun?
Good question. Who would have recorded it? Are those records available today? Faith is not logical so we can't put our rationale upon it. If you choose not to accept it then so be it. It doesn't change it though."The fool hath said in his heart there is no God."
