Without the power of prayer, I recovered it both times, quite miraculously. These examples would have also made fine Christian power of prayer anecdotes, had I been a believer.
Well, I'm sure you thought to yourself it would be nice to have my wallet back. Since God can hear your thoughts, he answered and you got it back. He listens to all peoples prayers, not just believers.
That is why you chose to label the find of your wallet miraculous

Schraf, I was only joking with the guy.
I have had to learn a lot of things about prayer. One thing is, your prayers are always answered, you might not get the answer you expect though.
There are many variables that will influence God decsions about your prayers.
Me personally, I wouldn't expect much if I didn't believe in him. But who knows, if God likes you enough, he might show some mercy on you. Thats just me.
I can tell you that life is better when you pray. Try this, a listening prayer. It doesn't matter if you say you don't believe in him, because he is there anyway, and he will talk to you. Ask God where he wants you to go and pray to him, the first thought that pops in your mind will be the answer. Then go there, and ask God what he wants of you, then just listen. Pay close attention to your thoughts, because God is a perfect gentlmen, and he knocks softly, just let him in schraf.
If you hear something in your thoughts, but then start rationalizing, then I don't know what to tell you.
Or maybe take a course on the art of hearing God. I am about to take this course, and from what all my friends say it is excellent.

I think its course 101.
Peace.

I know what you meant.
No matter how many things good that happen to you in your life when you ask for them, you will explain away with statistics, until there is one that you can't, but even then you will try to.

Avoid this stuff, peoples. It is probably always wise not to act on the inner voice! Of course if you are actually hearing voices and having conversations with unseen entities, it is time to seek medical intervention.
Bad advice.
Your inner voice is your true self, and God. I have tried to explain it away myself by saying things are better for me now, because I am listening to my own inner voice, which I should have been listening to all these years.
Like a womens intuition.
But too many things come into play that acknowledge that is not just from me. All them are good, if it is not good, then it is not God.
Be careful the advice you give. If we don't listen to our own inner voice, we might end up listening to someone else's.
mmmmmmmm

If your god's so big, so loving, so all-knowing and so powerful why, exactly, didn't he stop 1 and save you the whole mess in the first place?
Because this is earth, not heaven.
Usually #1 is the fault of the user anyway.
This is life, just look around you to see whats going on. People look for answers such as yourself, then go to a church, but unfortunaly the devil has his hooks in the church as well, and the men there are corrupt too.
You don't need a church to have a personal relationship with God, just as important as the Pope's.

That is so awesome!
You know, things used to happen to me mechanically (I fix all my own stuff too) and I would say to myself, why does this always happen to me? Why do I have to get the tough breaks all the time. It seemed like there was more bad luck than good. This continued into my HVAC business that I own. Even though I had dedicated myself to the Lord, I wasn't really following him yet. I even dedicated my business to the Lord, and was trying to run it as best I could in his name, but I was still missing the point.
Then last Feburary, I recieved a baptism of the Holy Spirit, that led me to repentance. I got great joy from repenting, were as before I did not really want to do it. I was now filled with the Holy Spirit on a daily basis. He is my guide, my light, my path, in the name of Jesus.
Things go much better for me now, and I am amazed at how many times I have just the right part, or exactly enough elbows or whatever to complete a job, and get paid.
Also when a customer gives me a hard time, I do not argue with them. I pray to God to handle the fight between him and the devil. In 4 years, I have had not one single person stiff me.
I also used to think I was cursed. Every July, for the last 14 years, every single thing mechanical I own (which is a lot) would break down. It didn't happen this year. Yep I prayed about it.
Now I still ask myself why does this always happen to me, but I have an answer.

I have 5 children, of course not.
But I do not see the point you are trying to relate to me, what does that have to do with what I said?

Layers of crap
Just a thought for all those who wish to hear God.
This world has piled layer upon layer of deception and deciet on top of you. If I had to show a visual to you, it would be like the Bugs Bunny episode where there was a dogpile on the rabbit. It's up to you to dig yourself out. The good news is that Jesus, and God, are right there holding out their hands to pull you from the mess. Once you get all that stuff off you, you will sparkle like a cyrstal that just came out of the dishwasher with aromatic jet dry on it (lol). You will feel this way down to every last molecule in your body. You will know with all your heart that it is true. Then the truth will set you free.
Most of us don't even know we aren't free and I can prove it.

Maybe he didn't pray for it?
To pray, and get the things you wish, you have to be right with God.
Your requests must also be to show his glory. So praying for a winning lotto ticket is out.
In my life, I try my hardest to do everything the way God would have me do it. I think that is why he answers my prayers more now than before. I do acknolwedge that it is for his glory, I "witness".

Not exactly.
God gives us the responsibility of taking care of those children. To him they are the most presious thing in life.
Tell me in your life how thing you got away with when you were younger. Tell me God wasn't watching over you then, when your parents weren't around. I know I got away with an incredible amount of things. It would seem that as you get older, your luck starts to run out, or God lifts his protection from you as you become aware of him, and deny him. I feel very protected now that I do not deny him anymore. Its not only what I feel, but what I see happen to me.
That won't explain what happens to many innocent children around the world, but we are not there, and cannot see the exact reason why. It usually has something to do with what the adults are doing. Since you are born into sin, then you bare the sins of your parents.
I plan to go there, and stop the chain.

You asked God for a place, and he said orange soda?
You know what this means.

Re: Unanswered Prayer
Since I stopped praying and no longer trust in the ambiguities of religion, my fortune hasn't changed. Actually my husband and I are happier.
I used to be angry at my ex-girlfriend when she went to church(because I hated the catholic church).
As my wife now was dis-appointed in me for the last ten years of my involvement in church. Not so much church, but being a spiritual leader of the family.
Yea so if my ex-girlfriend would have dropped church, I would have been happier.
Just like my wife is happier now that I am going to church, and being a spiritual leader of my family.
