I have have asked for a single passage that implies same sex marraiges, that dictates that any such thing was approved of, that shows that it was practiced, that shows that it was approved of, that shows that the jews even remotley indicated that such was acceptable
And I have asked for a specific verse that states in an undisputable manner that homosexual marriage is undoubtedly
not permitted.
If you'd like to jump on the "gay is forbidden" bandwagon, you need to provide a clear basis in scripture that is not open to alternate interpretation. Otherwise your position is no less an opinion than anyone else's.
You've been told about this before, I believe, but here it is again:
just because it isn't mentioned does not mean it's forbidden. Otherwise you -- being the good biblical Christian and eschewing anything not discussed in the Bible -- should promptly smash up your computer and hurry to the nearest confessional box.
Whether it
happened or not is irrelevant. We're discussing the question of if it is
allowed.
Whether the Jews considered it acceptable or not means nothing at all in this discussion. It's the
word of God as explicitly stated in the Bible we're talking about here, not the societal norms of a minor desert tribe from several millenia ago.
In response to ringo, DB writes:
This doesnt even make sense.
See if you can find the approval you are looking for in the non-canonical and Apocrapyhal writings, of Jews at that time, since you twist what the scriptures have to say
It makes perfect sense.
If God didn't like it, it would say so. Otherwise it would need to list everything that is permitted and that would require enormous amounts of very specific instruction. It makes far more sense to assume something is permitted if it is excluded than to assume it is forbidden if it is excluded.
This approval doesn't need to be listed because of the reason outlined above. Ringo doesn't twist scripture at all: he simply uses common sense.
