If you are going to oppose bigots, it would be consistent to oppose all of them, not just some. I oppose all the bigots I don't like. My question relates to bigots, and the inconsistent designation thereof. Perhaps you ought to provide some example bigots for us to opine on. Of course you won't do that. The point of my example is that I oppose bigots on the basis of their bigotry. That opposition does not necessarily mean that I want any particular bigot wiped from the fact of the earth, or that I wouldn't listen to anything a bigot had to say. After all, even a stopped clock... But with regards to the expression of bigotry, yeah, I think I'm fairly consistent about that.Je Suis Charlie Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. I oppose all the bigots I don't like. How about you? But you don't oppose the bigots you like? But you don't oppose the bigots you like? Some folks would call that hypocritical, eh? Actually I was just being a smart alec. As far as I know I am not friends with any bigots. Several years ago, while my wife and I were taking care of my elderly parents, we came to realize that my mom's brother's wife and 2 of his daughters were racial bigots. We had to remain cordial to them for my parent's sake but after both Mom and Dad passed away, I have not had anything to do with them. I always thought the world of my uncle and never heard him say anything that made me think he felt the same way his wife did. He passed away shortly after my mom. They were cattle ranchers in eastern Oregon and growing up, it was my favorite place in the world. I always liked and respected them, but after I heard the disgusting crap they said and thought, I will never see them again. They are my last living blood relatives other than my daughter and her children, but I can never tolerate their company again. So that's how the fuck I feel about bigotry. What if Eleanor Roosevelt had wings? -- Monty Python One important characteristic of a theory is that is has survived repeated attempts to falsify it. Fortunately, our laws protect our marketplaces from even the most loving of bigots.

Fortunately, our laws protect our marketplaces from even the most loving of bigots. However, you might take note that the "law" that is persecuting Christian businesses is a very new invention in "your" marketplaces. They were just minding their own business, selling whatever to everybody who asked, until along came this gay marriage "law" very very recently, which has become a weapon against Christianity in the hands of the LGBT community. They could buy anything they want from these businesses but they see a way to destroy Christianity by asking specifically for services for a gay wedding, which a Christian cannot in conscience supply. They could go many other places for those services but they are out to "get" the Christians. There is no doubt that some of them are intentionally targeting Christians and that this will only increase if the Supreme Court makes the law binding across the country. Thousands of Christian businesses will close, that did no harm, expressed no bigotry, to anyone, until this law about gay marriage was invented specifically for the purpose of persecuting them. To you this is progress though, right? To me it is the clearcut beginning of the end of America, which has been sliding toward this point for some time but has finally arrived. If god cares so much about this, why hasn't she smited those terrible people persecuting the poor downtrodden christians? Why didn't He smite the Romans who threw the Christians to the lions and burnt them as torches to light Nero's gardens? Or stop the bloody persecutions of the fifty million Christians who were tortured and killed under the Inquisition? Christ told us that if we are His we must suffer with Him. American Christians have had it easy while Christians are being murdered daily even now across the rest of the world. So we shouldn't complain if our time has come. But it is a horrific injustice and you can't be silent about that. ABE: Answer, of course, is that He DID smite the Roman Empire eventually, and the Inquisition was done in by the Protestant Reformation. Both are, however, returning in our time with the European Union and the successful attacks on Protestant Christianity that have pretty much eliminated it from western countries, and of which this clever ploy of gay marriage is the most recent excuse in America. ABE: Oh but I do need to add that we are to forgive and love our persecutors. Boy is that hard but Jesus did it and can give us the power. But as scripture says, our enemies aren't flesh and blood, mere human beings, but "powers and principalities," meaning the satanic powers that influence them. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. It's an invention in the minds of those Christians.
They were just minding their own business, selling whatever to everybody who asked, until along came this gay marriage "law" very very recently, which has become a weapon against Christianity in the hands of the LGBT community. If they continued selling to everybody who asked, there would be no problem. This "weapon against Christianity" is a weapon only in the minds of right wingers who claim to be Christian but who go against the teachings of Jesus.Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

Faith writes: Thousands of Christian businesses will close, that did no harm, expressed no bigotry, to anyone, until this law about gay marriage was invented specifically for the purpose of persecuting them. Really? Thousands? I wager most Christian businesses will conclude that serving all comers, like paying taxes, merely renders Caesar his due. And what is the law you think recently invented to persecute Christians? The Constitution? Well, anyway, in the U.S. now, you must suffer witches to live, adulterers to go unstoned--and the gays to no longer be treated as second class abominations. The Christian business owners who are being driven out of business don't hate anybody. They are not being driven out of business, Faith, they are choosing to go out of business rather than serve a certain group of people that they don't hate ... but just won't do business with ... because they don't hate them ... but just choose not to do business with them ... not because they hate them ... but because they choose not to serve a certain group of people that they don't hate ... but just won't do business with because they don't hate them ... but just choose not to do business with them ... not because they hate them ... but because they choose not to serve those people that they don't hate ... and just won't do business with because they don't hate them ... but just choose not to do business with them ... not because they hate them ... but because they choose not to serve thatgroup of people that they don't hate ... but just won't do business with because they don't hate them ... but just choose not to do business with them ... not because they hate them ... but because they choose not to serve a certain group of people that they don't hate ... but just won't do business with because they don't hate them ... but just choose not to do business with them ... not because they hate them ... but because they choose not to serve a certain group of people that they don't hate ... but just won't do business with because they don't hate them ... but just choose not to do business with ... not because they hate them ... but because they choose not to serve a certain group of people that they don't hate ... but just won't do business with because they don't hate them ... but just choose not to do business with them ... not because they hate them ... but because they choose not to serve them people that they don't hate ... but just won't do business with because they don't hate them ... but just choose not to do business with them ... not because they hate them ... but because they choose not to ...
