There is nothing so special about your faith, though, that says it always has to win, regardless of its effect on others. If I put my mind to it I'm sure I could come up with a long list of big name makers of Western Civilization who disagree with that. But what I've discovered is that nobody here cares, you'll make your own list of names you like better.

I'd be surprised if many important theologians were well-known. Certainly not many that are presently living. R.C. Sproul is about the biggest in the country at the moment, but I suppose the anti-Christian mentality doesn't keep up with these things.

Um, a law that specifically criminalizes a Bible teaching probably isn't going to bother anyone who doesn't believe in the Bible anyway. It COULD target Jews as well as Christians, so that could yet happen. I don't think it will be tested on Muslims because they are more or less a protected class themselves these days.
At the moment this is an attitude one picks up from the Zeitgeist, attitudes, angry opinions. When the persecutions start you'll probably know it. Maybe.

Interesting that nobody REALLY addressed my question. Would you have second thoughts if the numbers of Christians losing their businesses, being fined or going to jail for standing on their Biblical commitments against laws that target those commitments, was way beyond anything you expect?

But the big question. Is whether he's lying or just ignorant. He merely put into words what Bible-believers are feeling these days as we watch the gay marriage support spread and escalate.

Note the quotes around believers since we know for a fact that many who claim to believe the Bible simply don't in reality but rather believe the apologists instead of what is actually written. R.C. Sproul certainly falls into that category.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

Yeah, a lot of this flap has to do with pseudoChristians such as yourself redefining what a Bible believing Christian is. So what shall I call us? Bible Inerrantists?
Whatever, my question has to do with whether anybody's attitudes would change if huge numbers of us "fundamentalists" or "Bible inerrantists" become criminals as a result of these laws that we won't obey because they oppose the Bible, according to US, no matter what YOU prefer to call us. Then the fact that it is untrue says a lot about you self-styled "Bible-believers" So should I assume that if huge numbers of us "self-styled 'Bible believers'" are criminalized for our views of what the Bible says you won't have second thoughts, but take the position that we deserve it?

a law that specifically criminalizes a Bible teaching probably isn't going to bother anyone who doesn't believe in the Bible anyway. "criminalizes a Bible teaching"? What law would that be? A law that allowed gays to marry? How does that criminalize your bible? How does that criminalize you? I think because of your assumed christian privilege you think that ignoring you and your bible's bigotry that you and your bigoted bible have somehow been named as criminal. You and your bible are not criminal, Faith, just ignored. When you take bigoted actions like discriminating in providing service in the public marketplace then that action is criminal. The criminal is the bigot doing the actual harmful bigotry, not your bible. Guess what? Your fear-mongering bigoted priests are not going to be arrested for preaching fear-mongering bigoted things. That is allowed in this country. You can continue to read your bible, Faith. You and yours can continue to preach from it, pray to it, wave signs with passages from it all you want. Nothing criminal there. Just like with your bible's bigotry against gays, the rest of the public will just ignore its other evil rantings. No arrest, no jail, no lions.

So should I assume that if huge numbers of us "self-styled 'Bible believers'" are criminalized for our views of what the Bible says you won't have second thoughts, but take the position that we deserve it? You mean if huge numbers of you "self-styled 'Bible believers'" viciously discriminate against fellow human beings like not serving them in your businesses just like you once didn't want to serve blacks? You mean if huge numbers of you "self-styled 'Bible believers'" become criminals by your own deliberate actions? Well then, you're right. We will have no second thoughts. We will take the position that you deserve it since you deliberately acted against the law and did it to yourselves. The more of you that go bust and close up business the more room in the marketplace there will be for un-hate-filled christians and others to open businesses in your place.

Yes, that's pretty much what I expected you to say, but I wonder if it's really true, if thousands really were criminalized for our beliefs if you'd have no qualms about it at all. Perhaps you would, but I still wonder.

Well, sure, you aren't going to have any complaints about "Christians" who reject what the Bible teaches about homosexuality and about marriage. But are you really going to be able to hold onto your justification for criminalizing Bible inerrantists if you see thousands of us in that position? Perhaps, but I wonder.
