Author | Topic: Did the Flood really happen? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I did specify COASTAL erosion such as shown in the coast of Victoria Australia where the limestone is eroded away to produce the Twelve Apostles and other formations. This is decreasing the area, albeit slowly and by a small amount. Coastal reef can be counted as a part of the continent IF it eventually becomes a limestone strata. Overall, carbonate rock is not really a permanent residence of a continent.

Third, as far as we know, the continent of Gwandano rose from the oceans as the earth's core cooled about half a billion years ago. This is a very ignorant statement.

How easy it is to flood a continent depends on the height as well as the area (assuming we want to cover all of the land). But that depends on how high the highest land is, not on the size of the continents. In general, the smaller the continent, the lower (above the sea level) the continent. Some oceanic islands may look like exceptions. But an oceanic island is not a continent. The lower the continent, the easier to get overrun by seawater. Edited by Juvenissun, : No reason given.

That's irrelevant. For the Biblical Flood to happen, the highest point on earth has to be covered, no matter what continent it's on. Indeed. What if the highest mountain on the earth was not that high (in contrast to the amount of water "suddenly" increased on the earth?) For example, the highest peak was 1000 feet and the seawater suddendly increased 1100 feet deep? See, this would be related to the issue on the source of sea water.

Don't avoid questions, Where is your question?Do you know ask a right question is more difficult than answer a hard question? So far, I have answered all your questions.

Do not ask so fast about evidence. It is not good.
We should have a solid model. Then any evidence would become valuable. Do you understand my model of the global flood? If you do, then we can talk about evidence.

Nice to know you are a faithful. I am looking forward to talk to you on Faith and Belief issues somewhere else. You may guide me to where it is. I don't have enough time to explore the site yet.
This is the science forum, in particular, the forum about Noah's Flood. To me, it is a fascinating knowledge in science as well as in faith. I try to reason to unfaithful on science ONLY. I assume I know everything they know about this issue. I am only trying to see who care to ask thoughtful questions and who really cares to reason. At this stage, nothing about faith is needed. Faith is something needed beyond science. So far, science only is good enough.

Oil is a BIG question.
Of course, you can just use it without asking anything.

We can have many theoretical models.
The global flood could start with a theoretical model.

If the amount of water you need is what it takes to raise the worldwide level by 1100 feet, you might have a point there! That’s only 41,000,000 cubic miles of water to find and then get rid of! That is about (400 miles)^3 of water. That is not much if you consider how much the current ocean water is.

It is strange that those who work out the movements of bits of continents never find evidence of a global flood. Impractical thought. Depositon/erosion of sediments and continental drift are in two different time scale.

In what way are deposition/erosion and continental drift on different time scales? And when can we start seeing evidence for the Floode? To see the effect on outcrop and map scale, one is counted 10^5 years and one is in 10^8 years. So, we are not going to see the effect of deposition/erosion on map scale. What kind of evidence you expect to see about the global flood? Deposition? Erosion? Folded mountain? Earthquake? or something?

On Sunday morning, you don't assume that your church has moved to some random new location, do you? You don't demand evidence that it's in the same place as last week, do you? Good example. If you work in your office and people ask you what is the evidence that you believe your home is still there? How do you answer? Do you take: "I don't see any news on TV which reported otherwise" as a good evidence? Is there a better evidence for that? Or, you rather say: I "believe" it is still there. Lesson: Ask: "Evidence?" is a coward response. It means that you surrendered in the argument.

Oil itself is not a question. If you have actual questions about oil, somebody here may be able to answer them. Oil is a BIG problem. I do have questions. Who can help?
