Ok, pussycat.
Those are double standards too.
I agree, sugar baby love.
I've been called nigga by a black guy and have called a black guy nigga, with no problems whatsoever.
I'm glad to hear, cup cake.
Hell, there's even white gangster wannabes that get to use the word nigga. Its not as cut-n-dry as you're making it.
Perhaps it's not, sweetie pie.
And it seems the "rules" of usage are just made up on the fly as whoever is around sees fit.
What lovely, lovely words, baby doll.

Not very politically correct, yes, but it's better than having to labor all day in the field while being treated worse than an animal.
Yes but, to repeat, being called a nigger or a cracker doesn't actually turn you into a 19th century slave or slave-driver. Neither of them have to labour in a field and neither of them gets to hold a whip.

"Muslims" is (or are) not a race!
Neither are Jews

No it was Ceelo Green. at that time he was with Goodie Mob (now I think he is in Gnarls Barkley). It was from the 1st track of the Goodie Mob album "Still Standing" from 1998. the name of the song is 'The Experience'. You can hear it here. The line you brought up is from near the end of the song. I like the line right before that one you mentioned:
quote:
So many black me out here tyring to be niggas, keepin it real to tha point that they dying to be niggas"
good call though, great song great line, Its just not KRS.
KRS writes:
Throw in the towel, the devil is Colin Powell
You talk about being African and being black
Colin Powell's black, but Libya he'll attack
Libya's in Africa, but a black man
will lead a black man, to fight against his homeland
LOL, as if Libyans are black Africans. Knowledge Reigns Supreme? maybe if you had some geographical and historical knowledge about Africa, your lyrics would make sense, instead of sounding like the absence of knowledge.
Libya, hmm (1st ruled by Phoenicians, Then Greeks, then Romans, then Arabs, then Italians; none of these people sound black to me). Silly KRS, the Egyptians weren't black either bro.

being treated worse than an animal? you must be talking about the Irish.

Anyway... he said a black man will lead a black man to attack his homeland, as in Africa, and any place within that entire continent. His issue isn't about color. He considers everyone who lives in Africa to be of the same motherland, regardless of color. Imagine that, loving people and considering them your brother/sister regardless of their color.

I had to look up Libya on wikipedia...
I think AE has a point.
KRS One:
quote:
You talk about being African and being black
Colin Powell's black, but Libya he'll attack
Which is kinda funny because there's not really any black people in Libya... its all arabs.
From wiki:
quote:
Libya, officially the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya
quote:
Native Libyans are primarily Arabs (mainly tribal desert Arabs "Bedouins"), Berbers and arabized Berbers, Tuareg. Small Hausa, and Tebu tribal groups in southern Libya are nomadic or seminomadic. Among foreign residents, the largest groups are citizens of other African nations, including North Africans (primarily Egyptians), and Sub-Saharan Africans.
The page on the demographics of Libya says its 97% arab.
So I think its kinda funny to talk about blacks attacking blacks in Libya.
He considers everyone who lives in Africa to be of the same motherland, regardless of color. Imagine that, loving people and considering them your brother/sister regardless of their color.
All fine and dandy, but I think AE's observation was still kinda funny.

Yeah, Libyans are generally ethnically Berbers, which, while African, are not black African.
And while I'll also occasionally kick it old skool with KRS-One, I think his allusions about Uncle Tom's is kind of silly.

Well there's got to be something about the guy if Sublime wrote a song about him:
quote:
In school they never taught bout hamburgers or steak,
Elijah Muhammed or the welfare state.
But I know.
And I know because of KRS-ONE.
Yeah and I know And I know because of KRS-ONE.
Because he's droppin droppin droppin science,
droppin history With a whole leap of style and intelligency
Yes, I know.
and I know because of KRS-ONE Yeah,
and I know and I know
Because we don't want to pay money fee to hear the same old sounds.
Watch him he'll take hip-hop to a higher ground.
cuz I know (How do I know?)
And I know because of KRS-ONE.

No I just think its funny to listen to African-Americans talk about Africa, as they usually have no clue what they are talking about.
Anyway... he said a black man will lead a black man to attack his homeland, as in Africa, and any place within that entire continent. His issue isn't about color.
BS. if color was not important he would not have brought up the word black so much. Unless he was just coincedentally searching for something to rhyme with attack, but even i think he has more skills than for that to be true. His issue to me sounds like he has a problem with black men, who work for something he doesn't believe in. Sounds like a bigot and a hater to me. Is it not he himself (KRS One) turning upon black men in his home nation, while condeming the same action in the lyrics. black guys and thier double standards, oh well.
Imagine that, loving poeple...
weird. people suck.

I find that often the most outspoken critics of racism tend to have racist tendencies themselves. I don't like hearing black people calling other black people Uncle Tom's, as if black people are supposed to act a certain way on account of their blackness. Race doesn't determine personality, culture and nature does.

I was using KRS One quotes to "answer" things you typed that I agreed with, in a sarcastic way. Its not as funny when you have to explain the joke. Many KRS One fans treat him like he is something more than a street poet, like the Knowledge he drops has any scholarly merit. don't get it twisted, he got mad skillz, but he is a poser with all that Kris the teacher BS.
