...if thousands really were criminalized for our beliefs... Not for your beliefs, Love, but for your actions. Abuse of others rights.

... acting on a religious conviction based only on the Bible as WE see it, and it's how WE see it that we're acting on... Faith, Stop it! You have no right to abuse other people no matter how you interpret your bible! Your view of christian "right" be damned! This country is not ruled by your bible. This country is ruled by secular law. You have no right to abuse other people! Go to jail. Go directly to jail. And stay there until you can get it through you damn thick christian skull that you have no right to abuse people!

In the 50's and 60's a black would walk into a diner, sit down, and would be refused service because he was black. All he wanted was what everyone else would receive in that store but interpretations of the bible allowed the christian bigot to refuse him. He could always go down the street where he could get served at a diner that wasn't owned by a christian bigot.
This is abuse. It was labeled abuse and everyone but the bigots knew it was abuse. Today, the christian bigots are doing the same thing to gays, again justified using interpretations of the same bible. Again, to the bigot it is not abuse of other people but freedom of religion as THEY wish to interpret their book. This reality is staring everyone right in the face. It is not "trumped up". Only the bigots cannot see it. You think your religion is being held in contempt by the Europeans, yesterday the Irish, today the Americans? You're right. Your interpretations of your book and your actions of abuse against other human beings because of it are vile and evil and are no longer to be tolerated in free society. Go to jail.

...members are DOING NOTHING BUT OBEYING THE SAME GOD WE'VE OBEYED FOR TWO THOUSAND YEARS... That's a long time to be so wrong about so many things. You really oughta fix that.
So be proud of your wonderful accomplishment while Christians sing hymns in jail. Proud that we are finally letting an oppressed people free to enjoy their humanity in all its aspects, yes. Not so proud that we have to fight entrenched bigots, my fellow Americans, to get this accomplished. Sing your hymns, Faith, but not so loud or you'll wake the lions too early. Where did God say "Don't bake a cake for a same sex wedding?" It's kind of implied. If a couple are planning a same-sex wedding the good christians are supposed to stone them to death. That sort of precludes baking them a cake.

*the public* are trying to get them to remove the product from their offerings ... if you read the comments ... ... should they be allowed to do this? Free Speech works both ways. As long as it's not government ordering the take down, public pressure is the American way. Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.

There's a passage in the Bible that says something like Woe to those who hold a person guilty over a word. Faith, this disagreement revolves around words to be sure but the whole issue has now become one of attitude. The world is changing and the majority of the Christian world is being forced to change as well. American society is changing and the majority of the Christian communities are changing with it, some even embracing the changes. Others, such as yourself and your brand of TrueChristian are resisting these changes. It is difficult to lose privilege and watch your church’s power erode to this extent, I understand, but it is happening and will continue to happen given the attitude you display here. This society is moving beyond your hardened philosophy to embrace ever greater respect for the human condition in all its aspects.
quote: You can fight it all you want, Faith, but change is inevitable and will continue. This society is becoming enlightened beyond the ancient biases in your book. If you really love the Word, Faith, then your church needs to change with the rest of the society or step ever closer to the dust bin. Edited by AZPaul3, : title Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.

Isn't it hateful to tell Christians they can not be bigots in the marketplace? Isn't it hateful to tell Christians that we don't care if they hate gays we are going to allow them to marry anyway? Isn't it hateful to tell Christians that the facts of history attest to the US Constitution being a secular document? Isn't it hateful to feed Christians to the Catholics?
The answers are yes, of course. Just ask a Christian. This, also, illuminates the reasons why the Ancient Romans wanted to feed them to the lions. Christians are such a whiny lot. But if you feed one to a lion then, after the initial screaming, they get really quiet.

Does it make any sense that the original extremely Christian colonies with their Christian laws could possibly have intentionally designed a secular Constitution that would eventually allow the anti-Christian attitudes expressed now at EvC?
Yes. And there was no "extremely" about their Christianity. It was quite normal, intolerant, spiteful, hateful and (among the 13) contradictory. Just the kind of crap you would want to avoid if you were all going to crawl into the same bed. Has everyone forgotten the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union? How they all played so well together? So, yes, they ditched the religious stuff by not acceding to any of it in the Constitution. Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.

I understand that the term Christian has been co-opted by some pretty hateful folks, but I am not willing to cede them the dictionary. I bow to your more tolerant view of "Christian" than Faith's TrueChristianTM.
That's pretty f'ed up. Yeah, but fuuunnny!
