You are obviously abysmally ignorant of American history. All the original colonies but one were founded by PROTESTANT CHRISTIANS and strongly Protestant even as the Constitution was being written. Some did complain that they were betrayed by the Constitution that left out the felt allegiance to God by the VAST majority of the population. Just another little coup against the truth brought about by the Evil One. But even so the Christian character of the nation continued another century and a half or so, reflected in the government in many ways besides the population, in the prayers that open Congress for instance, in various court decisions and so on. But again the Evil One triumphed, turned our own Constitution against its fundamentally Christian inspiration, yes even through the Deists who were soaked in the Bible and made use of its teachings in the formation of the government. Oh there are lots of ways this nation started out and remained Christian for most of its existence.
There is a famous quote wrongly attributed to Toqueville about America being great because America is good, but it's a good concept and I think it's true no matter who said it. We've lost our goodness over the last half century or so. Despite Trump's heroic efforts to restore our greatness I have my doubts that he'll succeed because he isn't going to turn back the badness. Abortion in the millions per year for instance. but there's a long list beyond that. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Edited by Faith, : No reason given. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

Golly Gosh, defying a Presidential order is probably even more illegal. and in this case certainly is illegal because Trump's order has so much legal weight behind it. That court is wrong and should be impeached. Following an illegal order is in fact illegal, even if it is given by the President --- as you yourself would have unhesitatingly affirmed any time between noon on January 20th 2009 and noon on January 20th 2017. Can you imagine, Faith, what you'd have said if Obama had pressed on with one of his policies after a court ruled he had to stop? Would you have declared then that it was illegal for federal workers to listen to the courts instead of obeying Obama? Monkeys would fly out of your butt before that happened.

The executive order is legal through many offices and documents of the government., as the Townhall article says. Defying that order is what is illegal.

Is that what they're teaching at Internet Law School nowadays? No, Faith, when a judge issues an injunction that means you have to stop doing the thing. Again can I point out, you --- you whited sepulcher --- that if Obama had followed the legal doctrine you are now expounding, you would have completely lost your shit.

The President is not a King, you guys had a whole revolution to straighten that out. Even TrumP has to follow the law.

I am enjoying this thread!
Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Thoreau: Civil Disobedience (1846) History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. Martin Luther King I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend. Thomas Jefferson Seems to me if its clear that certain things that require ancient dates couldn't possibly be true, we are on our way to throwing out all those ancient dates on the basis of the actual evidence. -- Faith Some of us are worried about just how much damage he will do in his last couple of weeks as president, to make it easier for the NY Times and Washington post to try to destroy Trump's presidency. -- marc9000 |

How silly. Jihadists aren't going to attack in great numbers until they've built up a sufficient population to take over a nation. ... Paranoid delusion. Whacko alt right world based on fantasy. Paranoid delusion. Whacko alt right world based on fantasy The delusion is yours. I read this a year before 9/11 in the book "Philistine" by Ramon Bennett, which QUOTES many Muslim leaders in the Arab world saying quite clearly that their strategy is to populate other countries to the point that they have enough population to take the country for Allah. But of course you like most people here don't want to know the truth. Since that book was written there has been a steady movement in that very direction. I've mentioned this book before. I'm sure it's not the only source of this information. Probably Jihad Watch is one good internet source. If you want to know, which I suspect you don't, because you like the delusion that Islam is just a benign peaceful religion, which already takes an amazing level of delusion considering the information that is readily available all over the internet, including of course their occasional indulgence in murder in honor of Allah. Interesting chart RAZD, but I am skeptical of its claims. I get the basic premise, that our fears are misplaced, but for those numbers to be zero... just seems unrealistic. For example, we fought a war with Iraq during that time frame and certainly some of their citizens killed Americans. Likewise in Somalia and Syria. The Sudanese government was held responsible for the attack on the USS Cole in 2000 where 17 US sailors died. I seem to remember there was some situation with Yemen attacking a military base or ship around that same time where soldiers died. Maybe they are qualifying the numbers with something like "Number of Americans killed on American soil" but the heading doesn't say that. Maybe these are numbers for refugees, but if that's the case, then Saudi Arabia's numbers seem high - since the 911 hijackers were not refugees. Maybe they exclude military operations and only count civilians killed? Maybe you could provide the source and clear up what those numbers actually mean... HBDWhoever calls me ignorant shares my own opinion. Sorrowfully and tacitly I recognize my ignorance, when I consider how much I lack of what my mind in its craving for knowledge is sighing for... I console myself with the consideration that this belongs to our common nature. - Francesco Petrarca "Nothing is easier than to persuade people who want to be persuaded and already believe." - another Petrarca gem. Ignorance is a most formidable opponent rivaled only by arrogance; but when the two join forces, one is all but invincible.

The executive order is legal through many offices and documents of the government., as the Townhall article says. Defying that order is what is illegal. Um, so what you are saying is, when a Texas judge ordered an injunction against one of Obama's executive orders, that judge did not have the authority to do so? Injunction Against Obama's Executive Action on Immigration Approved | Time So what you are saying is Obama was in his rights to just ignore the injunction and move ahead with his plans? You DO understand how our three branches of government are set up, yes? Executive, Legislative and Judicial. We don't live in a monarchy last I checked.

There is written law on Trump's side. I don't know the legal status of Obama's actions you are talking about.

Maybe they are qualifying the numbers with something like "Number of Americans killed on American soil" but the heading doesn't say that. ... Indeed it doesn't say that, but the issue is about immigrants and people in the US killing Americans. The other chart in Message 21 is a bit clearer on that (it would be hard to imagine foreign beds being deadly here.
... I get the basic premise, that our fears are misplaced, but for those numbers to be zero... just seems unrealistic. For example, we fought a war with Iraq during that time frame and certainly some of their citizens killed Americans. Likewise in Somalia and Syria. ... Indeed I would expect that any country that the US invades in their perpetual war game some people would fight back, even if it were a losing proposition, or they would leave (thus the immigrant problem is OUR making). There is written law on Trump's side. The judge issued a stay, Faith. Trump is breaking the law. Jesus, you people. For eight years Obama obeyed the rule of law and you denounced him as a tyrant. It took eight days for Trump to decide he was above the law and you break out the pompoms and cheerleader costumes.

The court is wrong, but that will be shown in any case, so whatever is right in response to the stay I'm for it. I'd think the court would know the order is legal but I guess I'm nave to expect such sanity.
