Re: Lookingglass Logic at EvC
Hi Faith,
I'm perfectly willing to look at this with you, and I understand where you were coming from. I can quite happily discuss why I brought rr's logic up and I will happily talk with you about my opinions on jar's logic. I can fully appreciate that his comments may seem almost irrelevant, and I'd welcome a chance to explore that with you.
However, your post is highly inflammatory and I'm not going to be tempted to promote any topic with comments such as the following:
that supposedly bright people are so stupid
I can't believe you all are that stupid.
And perhaps I should be sad instead at such a failure of intellect.
The topic has promise to be interesting, but this kind of vitriol needs to be cut right out of it. How about you tidy it up? Why not post jar's argument, give your interpretation of it, and rr's refutation of that logic? Then we can discuss it calmly and dispassionately.
If you want, provide some links and possibly some choice quotes from other sources if you feel it bolsters your position. Either that, or take it up a Great Debate with somebody, though if you do that, I think it would be best if you take out your respsonses to other people - since they would then be unable to interject with corrections if you had misunderstood them.

Re: Lookingglass Logic at EvC
Thanks for taking my comments on board. I'm confused as to your 'lost cause' comment, if you reread what I said you will find that I my opinion of the topic is far from 'lost cause', indeed I said that it has promise and looks interesting and that I'd be happy to explore it with you.
I say this, hoping to encourage you to keep the topic tight. Your Message 6 is a good start for an OP, personally I'd like to see just a little more - but I'm willing to change my mind on that on further reflection - something I'm going to give it now.
