Re: The Latest Data
Well, we Texans have it all completely under control. Four days running of record highs in new cases, so -naturally - we’re back to full open, and the beaches are jammed with people. Unfriggenbelievable.

Re: The Testing Issue
We know that the cat family is real, too. And we know that your average tiger is a little more dangerous than your average fat American housecat. What’s the mortality for common colds due to coronavirus? As high as that for Covid-19? How prevalent is at least partial immunity to the common cold caused be a coronavirus? I don’t know that, and you don’t either, but I’ll take my chances on a common cold in preference to exposing myself to Covid-19. Don’t be foolish. The same family does not mean the same critter.

Re: The Latest Data
We have plenty of counties out here with no hospital, no clinics, and some with no doctors or nurse practitioners. My county, with ~16000 population, has run a whoppin’ 200+ tests, two of them positive. We have a prison here with ~1600 inmates and a bunch of guards. They report no Covid cases, but they also have not reported if they have done any testing there. Yeah, there’s a problem in the boonies of America. We’re going to find out how big a problem as this opening up continues. I’m staying in.

We have five new cases, up from two previously, here in lovely Scurry County. And according to our public health nurse, one of our new detections had been all over the county. And another worked at the (multi-county) jail here. They are going to start testing for coronavirus there now. I’m not optimistic.

Typed too soon. Four additional cases now, and a bunch of tests pending.

Re: Memorial Day Holiday Potential Infection Event
Wow! It’s fun to play find the facemask with that picture. They’re doing as well as the crowd at Lake of the Ozarks that I saw. And meanwhile, my county went from two cases to twenty this past week.....

Re: Why You Do Not Want To Catch This Virus
Our county just more than doubled our positive cases today - they had 39 positive tests of staff and residents at the local nursing home. Many are asymptomatic. This nursing home put in safeguards early, too, but it only takes one infected person... Not good, folks. It’s going to be a long, tough slog through this.

Re: The Latest Data
And meanwhile, in West Texas, we’re setting records in number of Covid hospitalizations and running at maybe 10% mask-wearers at Walmart. Most mask wearers are over sixty years old.

Our county is way smaller than Jar’s, but we do have a state prison here. The official capacity is 1384 inmates. As of yesterday, 227 of them tested positive for Coronavirus. Last week, they were reporting zero positives. I have a bridge in New York that I’ll sell you at a pretty reasonable price. Anybody interested? Edited by Coragyps, : No reason given.
