Re: Great point!

Don't get me started on Catholicism, I was just confirmed in a Catholic Church...
You don't have to apologize, if the person offended by the "Christian" cannot come to the realization that one (or every but one) Christian does not represent all Christians, then I wouldn't bother talking to them.
Praying, Oops I mean asking Mary to "intercede" is wrong plain and simple. Talking to dead people usually doesn't work... I've been through this with my priest, my ccd teachers, etc... The problem with Catholicism is that they instead of looking towards the Bible it look towards the Pope and "Tradition", who time and time again has been proven not worthy of the title "Infallible"...
Heres a list of things made up by Catholicism:
Praying to Saints, people, Mary
Purgatory
The Rising of Mary to heaven (with her body)
Whatever there are probably more.
You are wrong about some statements you made here about catholicism

Re: Nonsense.
quote:
The Bible is simply a very imperfect book that refelects the point of view of people that lived thousands of years ago, that added parts to protect their position and perks, their myths and tales.
The Map is not the Territory.
Without the Map you can't find the Territory.
Christ was prophesied in these books. His story was told. His sacrifice was described in these books. The basis of your faith is defined in these books.

The word infallible is used to describe doctrines, not the Pope

Re: Great point! Don't be hate'n
No I go to a public school. Yeah it's my nickname. I was getting called porcelain by my friends it was started by some seniors. It has no meaning really. Just smoother than yelling PORTEUS. PORCELAIN is smooth. Sometimes I wish I went to a christian school, all my friends smoke pot and have different priorities then me.

BTW stick around, Chris. You can learn a lot about human nature in these forums.
Yeah, I've been around longer then you think though, you might have emailed me before.
Believe me, I've mastered humans. I have deep insight into the human mind
Don't worry I'll stick around.

Re: Great point!
There was only one infallible doctrine ever passed and that was that Mary was born without sin

His life is recorded in the Bible. Do you accept the gospels as his life?

Re: Nonsense.
It's not what I've got it's what the prophets "got".
There's many, many verses I'll have to get back to you on that though. I will eventually.
edit- I noticed mike referenced a few and you can really interpret a verse any way you want so maybe it's like you asking me to dig a ditch and refill it and dig it again over and over again.

Remember, the Serpent in the Garden of Eden isn't the Devil, or Satan, or anything like that. He is just a "beast of the field" according to Gen 3:1 and Gen 3:14.
Revelation 12:9 The great dragon was hurled down- that ancient serpent called the devil or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth and his angels with him.-Revelation 12:9
How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stares of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High. Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the lowest depths of the pit. Those who see you will gaze at you, and consider you, saying; is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook kingdoms, who made the world as a wilderness and destroyed its cities, who did not open the house of his prisoners."-Isaiah 14:12-17
In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.-Isaiah 27:1

Re: real nonsense
I'm saying that in the scriptures, the power that they portray him to have would most liiely make him capable of changing form.

Re: Nonsense.
The prophecy of schrafinator came true.
I had a discussion with a teacher of mine, I had thought he was an atheist, well that was the impression I got, probably from my christian bias. He has a belief in a supreme being. I asked him why he came to that conclusion and he mentioned having dreams of a past life, he believes God is in everything and that everyone finds God a different way. Some may find the christian God, some may find Allah, but he said to ignore the existence of a God is to ignore life around you, and that you can't convince anyone of anything, mentioning the futility of participating in a board like this.
Religion was created to give people hope, why ancient people, the Paleolithic came to an explanation of a God and an afterlife is beyond me. Maybe there is san argument for "looking at life around you" and coming to a conclusion of a "God"
