A claim is not scientific unless its falsifiable... Is climate change falsifiable? Of course. The edifice is built on the overwhelming abundance of actual facts and data. If we find enough facts and data that contradict our present conclusions those conclusions have been falsified. You don't science much do you. Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.Eschew obfuscation. he outsiders that the mainstream fear, made predictions that are true... The world is getting cooler. That may be in your altered belief-based wishful-thinking fantasy world but the actual data that reality is showing us is quite the opposite. How many top scientific studies from reputable corners agree with your fantasy-centered claim? Any? Reality is sitting right there in front of your face. You can deny that reality all you want. It's not going away. You are blind for the sake of your religious and political beliefs. How intellectually backward of you.Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

You seem to think it is as simple as a large group of rational people vs a large group of stupid people. It isn't that simple. Why isn't it? A large group of rational people say "this is bad, this is very bad" vs a large group of irrational people (to include charlatans, the greedy, the religious and politically motivated in addition to your standard nutjob) that say "hey, ain't so bad, beers cold." Is this THAT difficult a decision? I know, I know, this is humanity and we have a tendency to do the stupid. We can't, should, but can't help it. We have Christians and republicans or their equivalents all over the world running everything so stupid it's going to be. Seems simple enough to me. Stupid wins.Eschew obfuscation. Due out this week the IPCC will issue its second world report.
This article Here's What You Need to Know About The UN's Upcoming 'State of The Climate' Report : ScienceAlert is about how the report was put together and the rigourous open scientific review system used. There are technical science sections separate from the political policy sections. This report will be the world's consensus view of our climate issues both science and policy wise.

IPCC, 2021: Summary for Policymakers. In: Climate Change 2021: The Physical Science Basis.
Contribution of Working Group I to the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change quote: No more BS from Big Carbon and their political minions. The warming is real (no reasonable doubts remain). The warming is happening faster than projected. The warming is known anthropomorphic (no reasonable doubts remain). It is bad. Shifts in weather are now, and will continue to disrupt agriculture and social systems placing societies under extreme stress. We can still mollify some projected disruptions or their severity to a significant degree if we drastically reduce greenhouse emissions before 2050. It’s getting worse but we still have a chance to affect the most drastic IF we change our poisonous ways today. In summary, since we have already shown ourselves to be a population of stupid apes this report means we’re more screwed than we thought we were.Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

The committee put up a FAQ section in their report.
IPCC Frequently Asked Questions A sampling of the types of questions. Each one is answered in a layman's vernacular with lots of backup data when needed.
FAQ 1.1: Do we understand climate change better now compared to when the IPCC started? FAQ 4.1: How Will the Climate Change over the Next Twenty Years? FAQ 7.2: Clouds – What is the role in a warming climate? FAQ 10.2: Why are cities hotspots of global warming? FAQ 12.1: What is a climatic impact-driver (CID)? 90+ pages of such questions with detailed comprehensive answers. Very interesting questions and data. A major layman's answer resource.Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation. |

I've read some of those studies. They propose there is a chain of tipping points coming up in the next 100 years and if we, as good little humans can, hit every fricken one of them then some greenhouse cycles would go into autopilot regardless of how many humans aren't around any more.

Global warming is the real-life trolley problem.
Down one line a lot of people die now and again then a whole lot further down the track the trolley bursts into flames and everybody on the planet dies. Down the other line the trolley bursts into flames and everybody on the planet dies but it happens earlier. Edited by AZPaul3, : No reason given.Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

The effects of climate change will continue on for decades and decades because not enough of the world will rein in their production of green house gases ... No. The effects of anthropomorphic climate change, even if all humanity dropped dead today, will continue to ravage this world, not for decades but for centuries, for millennia.
quote: quote: With these two projections and what we already see happening in former breadbasket regions like east Africa, western China, all over the Middle East, I am majorly concerned. The drought, heat, fire, flood and on and on, will only get worse over these coming decades regardless of what we do. Major food disruptions are already happening and will only get worse. We have seen before in history the social consequences that will occur. We know how societies react to starvation and war.
We will eventually gain control of our green house gases, but by no means by 2050. No. We won't. Too many sacred oxes to gore. We have seen how some of the power political elites ignored the lives in the pandemic and manipulated resources for profit. They don't care. Now imagine the opponent having all the money in the world (literally) and an iron grasp on all the major political levers in every nation in the world (literally). You will not challenge their power. Not successfully. You will not decrease their revenues or their wealth. You haven't the political power nor the political will. Rebellion will have to happen. War will have to happen.
Some regions will suffer, some will thrive, and along the way we'll adapt. Even in the USA I fear the prospect of a world so disrupted and broken the demagogues will have the fodder they need to make hell. The collapse of civilization that you do not see coming will come when nuclear armed War Lords are in control of ANYwhere.Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.
