The problem with that is that anybody going through a belief change can have a big difference in their life. I can point to the changes of people converting to Islam, to Judaism, and losing all 'faith' in religion all togather, and becoming atheists as people whose change in belief made a sigifnigent change for them to the better.

Re: a little bit of interesting news Lam
Well, I will tell you what. Provid evidence that there is a god, and all these books about them are somethign MORE that just stories with a bit of mythical history mixed in, and I will seek god. Personal testimonies, logical fallacies, and ciruclar reasonings won't cut it. Think you can do that?

Actaully, there might be absolutes , but if you read what he said, you absolutely don't know it. This message has been edited by ramoss, 08-19-2004 04:28 PM

Re: Congo Conversion Factors
Why should we trust the New Testament, since the New testament copied so much from the Tanakh. Why would we trust the Torah, when it borrowed so heavily from the Sumarian and the Ugartic Bible? Why should we trust as 'truth' about the origins of everything from spriitual writings from bronze age goat herders ??

Re: Bible is proof
Umm.... where did you get this? Archeology has done nothing but PROVE the historical accuracy of the Bible. Really now?? Can you point to a peer reviewed archelogical paper about that? Some things have been shown (The invasion of Jerusalum via the aquaducts for example).. but most has not been. Can you show me evidence of Exodus, Jerica, Sodom and Gomorah?? From a peer reviewed archelogical journal, not some theologist who is trying to push a theological point.

Actually, the phrase is 'James, the brother of the once called Christ (ton adelphon Iesou tou legomenou Christou) Compare that with Mathew 1:16 (ho legomenos Christos), This same phrase is in John 4:25.

Re: More Doherty on Paul
I will note that the entire page was one big ad hominin attack on Dotherty. I find it ironic that J.P. Holding is attacking Earl Doughty on the matter of using scholarship.

Re: Is This Another Wacky Parody?
Of course, that line of reasoning is known as 'begging the question'. You assume that a god is needed for there to be here, so therefore conclude god. I conclude that no god would have made anybody as stupid as men are in their 'own image' so there is no god. Try to disprove that.

Re: Prove or disprove divine existence to me
How are you defining 'sin'? If you are saying it is breaking of 'god's laws', then , in my opinion, there is no sin. If you have another defintion.. well, I have to find that definition out first.
