Most of these guys are talking trash about what they would or would not do with regard to pursuing military objectives. With the exception of the senators, none of these guys have any significant foreign policy experience of any kind. The governors in particular have less experience at foreign policy than did Palin because they cannot see any foreign countries from their house. And even the senators are arm chairing it when they talk about their military objectives.The only support from the military that means anything are the opinions of the top generals. For the rest of the military, when they disagree, they have to vote with their feet by leaving the service, and they are generally easily replaced.
