In Saskatchewan, "cloudy" means there's at least one cloud in the sky. In British Columbia, "sunny" means there's at least one square inch of blue sky. What is the difference between semi-open and semi-closed? Partly sunny versus partly cloudy? (I actually like the American primary system. The Canadian system is similar in principal but it happens only when the party decides it should happen and only according to the party's rules. Typically, sixteen-year-olds can vote to select the candidate even if they can't vote in the election. Stuffing the conventions with busloads of high school students is a common tactic.)

Since Trump is all about being the center of attention, he'll probably want a running mate who blends in with the wallpaper. Sarah Palin is his equal on the idiot scale but even he couldn't stand her for more than a few minutes. The same applies to any of his opponents. He wants VP? Edited by ringo, : Removed redundant extra word.

I don't think Hitler "ordered" the murder of 6 million so much as he inspired it. It was over-enthusiastic underlings responding to his stupid rhetoric who did the dirty work. Did Hitler ever even visited a concentration camp? I suspect he would have been as appalled as you or I (though he probably would have just turned his back). ... there's just so few damn people that could actually be likened to someone who ordered the murder of 6 million people! That's where I think the parallel with Trump is apt. He himself may just be full of hot air but his hot air inspires people who are a lot worse than he is. When he's elected President, watch him appoint Reinhard Heydrich as head of Homeland Security.

I didn't say he didn't know. I said he didn't see. Hitler knew. My point is that he inspired the monsters and enabled the monsters. Edited by ringo, : Spellin.

Fair enough. My intention was to hone the meaning of the word, not contradict it. Pardon my subtlety.
Nah, you said "I don't think Hitler "ordered" the murder of 6 million so much as he inspired it."

I make no excuses for the Holocaust. This came across as excusing Hitler of responsibility for the Holocaust My point - again - was that a demagogue tends to attract the people who are capable of such actions. Hitler had been railing against Jews for decades before he had the power to do anything to them. He attracted the kind of followers who were ready, willing and able to do the unthinkable. He couldn't actually do the unthinkable without them. Hence the parallel with Trump. He has the endorsement of biker gangs and the Ku Klux Klan. All he needs is the likes of Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy and he'll be able to carry out his program. (Mind you, we can hope that the US Constitution will prevent him from doing what he wants to do.)

I'm curious to see how he reacts if/when he (hopefully) loses. A Canadian Conservative would blame his defeat on the Toronto Elites (not a sports team) and the ethnic vote.
Trump's campaign is all about Trump. He doesn't give a damn about Hillary or you or me or anybody else.

It's the party of Lincoln and Reagan. When those two names were mentioned in the same breath, I thought lightning was going to strike.
It's the republican party, you expect it to make sense?

Well, we Canadians investigate refugees before we let them in too - but we don't single out Muslims. What Trump said is the equivalent of, "We won't hire black people without a background check."
... he said UNTIL THEY CAN BE INVESTIGATED.

I'm not interested in playing he said she said with Faith. My point is that her logic is wrong, whether her premise is correct or not.
... except that, as I pointed out, the stuff Faith made up is not what Trump said.

He explained: "There are two different Donald Trumps. There's the one you see on the stage and there's the one who is very cerebral, sits there and considers things very carefully. You can have a very good conversation with him. That's the Donald Trump that you're going to start seeing more and more of."
That's true of many politicians. There's the one who does what he has to do to get elected and the one who does the job he was elected to do. Maybe Trump won't be as big a fool in office as he is on the campaign trail.

Christians are taking an active role in sponsoring refugees. Locally, it's Catholic churches, Anglican churches, United churches, even Baptist churches.
Anyway, I do think Christians should be taking an active role in this.

Ever hear of the Dreyfuss Affair?
However, the Jews of France should be trusted on this one. They were doing just fine in France until the Muslims started terrorizing them.

What does "recently" have to do with anything? By Jewish accounts - which you say we should accept - France has been one of the most anti-Semitic countries in Europe for a long time. For all we know, French Muslims might have learned their anti-Semitism from the French instead of from Islam.
Doing fine RECENTLY for pete's sake, until the Muslim attacks started.
