I only have one Sig left but owned a 226, 225 and a 2009 as well. The 226 was amazingly accurate.
The only Sig I have left is a 230 and I cannot imagine not having it in rotation.
The indoor range is closed today but I'll likely go tomorrow.

Percy writes: Why don't you tell us again how you store your guns and ammo safely and separately, how no one else has access to them, how careful you are, how often you go to the shooting range and practice, how you sometimes have a trainer give you feedback, how you never rely on the safety, how you always assume there's a round in the chamber, and on and on. That's certainly not bragging Percy but rather minimal safety training covered before someone in Texas is granted a License to Carry and even part of the required testing before the License can be granted. Most of those things were stuff I learned before I even started school from family training.
Percy writes: Regardless of what you have never said, you *are* part of the gun problem in the US. And I have said repeatedly I support your right to hold such a position.
Percy writes: If it's impossible that your guns could ever do someone harm, how could they protect you? How could you ever shoot them before they shoot you if your guns can't harm them? I'm sure your guns are a great comfort to you, but it is a false comfort because they actually place you (and those around you) in greater danger. But here again you first present a strawman position I have never claimed and the make another unsupported assertion where you have never provided any evidence in support.
Percy writes: There you go bragging again about how safe you are with guns. If you want to make 100% certain you don't harm an innocent person then leave your guns locked up at home. Once you carry your guns out of the house that 100% certainty drops. And so you continue to post false and misleading assertions. Saying that I train is not bragging, it should be expected. Nor have I ever presented or claimed any 100% certainty. Really Percy, try something that's not as asinine as all you have presented so far. There, I did not say stupid.

Percy writes: You *are* bragging, and inappropriately since your individual experience cannot be extrapolated to the national gun crisis. But again Percy, you are just misrepresenting what I have posted. I have NEVER tried to extrapolate my individual experience to any national issue (I don't see a National Gun Crisis but to see a National intelligence and education crisis). Throughout this whole topic I have tried to make it clear I am talking only about me and not any general principle. In fact if the subject was US drivers my position would be much the same, life would be better if all the other drivers were off the road. The issue as I see it is NOT the gun but rather the fact that in so many ways the US today is really fucked up. What needs to be changed is the people and that will take generations or a major pandemic I fear.

Warmer today so I will carry a Smith & Wesson J frame.
The Smith & Wesson J frame is a small, lighter 5 round revolver. The one I'm carrying today is a 642 Airweight chambered in 38 S&W Special. The frame is an alloy while the barrel & cylinder are steel. Fully loaded it weighs just over a pound. Trigger pull is heavy and long but with no noticeable staging. I'll be wearing shorts and so at least initially I'll pocket carry in an old Alessi holster that Lou himself made. Later as it warms up I'll likely switch to an On the Belt holster, probably a really old Hunter.
In the Hunter Holster:
As with almost all my revolvers there is no safety and this version has the hammer shrouded and so is double action only. It does have an internal lock so an owner could lock the gun making it more difficult to fire. I've never locked the gun and the key to lock or unlock it is kept is a separate safe from where I store the gun. Notice that the Hunter Holster is a retention type, there is a strap that prevents just pulling the gun from the holster and also blocks the trigger. The Alessi fully covers the trigger area and smooths the outline.

Today I carried my Taurus 605 Protector, a five round revolver chambered for 38 Special or 357 Magnum. I chose 38 Special today.
The old Gould & Goodrich paddle type holster I bought about 20 years or so ago is a perfect fit for the much newer Taurus 605 and I must admit that the new handguns are almost as pleasant as my older ones and also somewhat lighter. My 1903 Smith & Wesson DA (Double Action; pulling the trigger advances a cylinder, cocks and releases the hammer) weighs right at a pound. It too has five cylinder but initially I carry with an empty cylinder under the hammer and two speed loaders with additional five rounds each. Fast forward to the 1980s and my Colt Detective Special was a full six rounds but weighed in at slightly over one and a third pounds; but it is safe to carry with all six cylinders loaded. Looking a couple similar modern revolvers like the Smith & Wesson 642 and Taurus 605 Protector we find five rounds with a transfer bar so that the hammer cannot hit a cartridge unless the trigger is pulled fully back and stronger alloy frames to handle more powerful loadings than the earlier handguns but with lighter weight frames. The Smith & Wesson 642 weighs almost exactly the same as the Smith & Wesson DA Model 4 from 115 years ago while the Taurus at just under one and a quarter pounds is slightly lighter than the Colt Detective Special.

Yes, little boys like you often see such things. But soon you will grow up. Maybe.
But you do need to learn about honesty and stop misrepresenting what others say. Edited by jar, : No reason given.

Currently over seventeen million US citizens are already licensed to Conceal Carry firearms in the US. There are also fourteen Permitless Carry States. The statistics on crimes committed by those who hold a license to carry are also interesting. Between 2005 and 2007 an average of only 703 crimes of ALL types were committed by those holding a license to carry which is about six times less that the average for police officers committing crimes.

Percy writes: One of the missing details was the type of weapon, but when everyone or almost everyone hit dies, that usually means an AR-15 style weapon. These weapons are too dangerous to be in public hands. Now that's just showing your utter ignorance Percy. Do you even know what an AR-15 style weapon is?My Website: My Website

Phat writes: I know how you want to argue that no guns should be banned, but explain to us why a 9mm couldn't achieve the same level of whatever it is you wanted from a gun? Actually a 9mm can do as much damage as an AR-15. The stories as usual are simply written to be sensational and reality be damned. Long barreled weapons will be more powerful than short barreled weapons but that is not limited to the AR-15 platform. And the reality is that long barreled weapons are simply not used in many instances at all. I'm not opposed to restriction if they are actually based on evidence or even reasoned argument but so far those two factors seem pretty much absent. My Website: My Website

What is missing in the US (and many other nations) is that we are not addressing the root cause of violence.
The gun is NOT the problem, it is the society and lack of social support. Saying that AR-15 type rifles are the problem is absolutely as stupid as claiming the election was stolen. Personally, I find the AR platform ugly and really unpleasant and so it's not something I own or shoot. But to say that it is more dangerous than other platforms is at best sophomoric. It's not concealable. It's not something that is effective in close quarters or crowds. It's a distance weapon rather than a BBD (Bad Breath Distance) choice. It's not used in very many of the reported shooting. But most of all, it does not address the root causes of violence. It is an easy cop-out similar to the Salvation Get Otta Hell Free card and so a feel good position for folk that are unable or unwilling to think. My Website: My Website
