Some people protested outside Carlson's home.

Who identified the protest as a antifa, and based on what evidence?
You're a big fan of eyewitness evidence: I was at the protest outside Tucker Carlson’s house. Here’s what actually happened. Seems to me that the protest was a bit much, but far from the riot portray in the right wing press.

It's a little more complicated than what you've read. It needs to be settled in court.
There is the Constitutional argument that Whitaker needs Senate approval. That needs to be hashed out. But there is more. If Sessions resigned, it's probably OK. Formally he did resign but there is a legal principle called "constructive discharge" which applies when an employee technically quit, but felt he had no choice but to do so. Since Sessions' letter began"At your request, I am submitting my resignation., it may have been firing by constructive discharge. The Federal Vacancy Reform Act allows Whitaker's appointment, but it specifies that it applies in case of an official "dies, resigns, or is otherwise unable to perform the functions and duties of the office. So if Sessions was fired the FVRA may not apply and the Section 508 statute applies and the appointment is illegal. The administration argues that Sessions resigned and the FVRA supersedes Section 508. Both of those claims are debatable. There's a pretty even-handed summary atMatthew Whitaker’s appointment as acting attorney general is almost certainly Illegal.

I have no reason to believe Carlson's account. Let's see photos of the alleged vandalism.
As I said, I think the protest was a little over the top. I feel the same about harassment in restaurants. It's significant that you can't tell who identified the protestors as antifa, and what evidence led to that claim. I'm not defending anything. I'm seeking the truth. Your account sounds like a significant exaggeration. So trot out your evidence.

Yeah, it's such a pain in the ass to do things legally. That's why the administration doesn't do it and gets slapped down so many times in court. We should just anoint Trump as dictator for life and get rid of the Constitution and all the laws.
The Constitution and our laws say that the President cannot appoint whoever he wants as acting AG whenever he wants. The issue is whether or not he can legally do so in this case. Edited by JonF, : No reason given.

Antifa is a very small portion of liberals. You are tarring all liberals with the same brush.
It's the equivalent of me saying all conservatives are KKK. I.e. it's BS. Speaking of antifa, who determined the protestors at Carlson’s house were antifa, and based on what evidence? I bet you assumed they were antifa because they were liberals. BTW antifa does stand for antifascist. They are not fascists Edited by JonF, : No reason given.

OK, Fox and someone else claimed they were antifa. Based on what evidence? Were they wearing black? Face masks? Were they violent? (Some say yes, some say no. We need evidence. I didn't see anything in that video.) Why isn't Carlson posting pictures of his car and door?

It was not a complaint about style. It was a major scandal.

Yeah, who cares if he's a grifter who harrases poor old ladies for their money. Or that he makes it explicit that he opposes much of the foundations of our democracy. Or that he's rabidly partisan and makes Sessions look like a Democrat.
It's not as if the DOJ has any function beyond enforcing the Leader's whims.

The white supremacists think he means something different. Especially since he won't condemn neo-Nazis and their ilk.

So, to summarize, trurh doesn't matter. Only the right wing echo chamber of hate matters.
Glad you cleared that up. This seems apropos:
