Re: Oh golly gosh the same old ignorant seafood thing again.
As far as health goes, I suspect the hamburger alone is enough of a problem without the cheese. I keep trying to get myself to go vegetarian but it's so much work.
However, God isn't talking about health. All His standards are spiritual in nature. And since I didn't expect to llve anywhere near as long as I have, if I keep going for a few more years despite the cheeseburgers I don't think we can say they are all that bad.

Re: Oh golly gosh the same old ignorant seafood thing again.
I believe the meat and milk combo prohibition came from the law against "seething the calf in its mother's milk" which got extended to keeping all meat separate from all milk products, possibly without spiritual warrant but I'm not sure. Orthodox Jews observe this rule even today, keeping separate refrigerators for the two.
I'm too lazy to look it up right now to see what the original spiritual meaning was, but I do recall some suggesting that it was intended to teach mercy to animals: boiling the calf in its mother's milk does sound cruel. But there may be other meanings I'll feel up to googling later.
Before the cross did its thing why should my very salvation be contingent upon such a trifle as meat with milk?
Something confusing here I'm probably not getting. "Before the cross did its thing" if it applied to you at all you'd have been a Jew. The cross frees us as Christian believers from the whole law given by Moses to the Jews. (In case there is any question it frees Jewish believers in Christ too.) The Jews have made the mistake of thinking the Law can save them but it can't. Those who were saved before Christ came were saved by faith just as we are. The Law was given by God to teach us all that we need Christ for salvation. Some of the Jews got it, most didn't, and today's Jews still llve as if the Law could save them.

Googled it and looked it up on a Bible site and couldn't find it. Must be using a wrong term to search the KJV. Have to try again later.

Today is the anniversary of D Day, does anyone care?
I suppose I DO care what the Brits think of us, what they think of Trump. I'm glad to see there are at least a few who think he's a good President. They understand what our shared history is all about, the values and principles we have shared over the years, the reason we were willing to sacrifice so much to defend Europe in the last world war.
I guess that's just culture under the bridge, as it were, to some here, stuff we can just forget about as time marches on and culture changes. I wonder if we could muster a DDay invasion any more.

Re: Today is the anniversary of D Day, does anyone care?
You are going to keep up that llyng llne about Trump no matter what, aren't you? And by doing so YOU are among those pushing the fascist mentality because Trump is no fascist and he did not say that. But his enemies are the fascists, yeah "llberal fascists," yes indeed, and that's where this country is going to go unless you all wake up. Trump is a true American who is serving true American history and values, that's why we on the Right support him and we are sick to death, sick in our souls, because of this llyng stuff from the Trump despisers.
I didn't get to hear his speech today but I heard it was good. He is a true American who truly loves American history and really appreciates what Americans and our allies did on D Day.

Re: Today is the anniversary of D Day, does anyone care?
I appreciate what your father and uncle did, but if they are still alive I would be surprised if they would "proudly cut Trump's throat" because unlike your generation I'd expect that they would recognize that he stands for what they fought for and you don't.
And I suspect "most Americans" these days have NO knowledge at all of D Day.

Re: Today is the anniversary of D Day, does anyone care?
I'm glad you remember and your father was there. Mine wasn't, he was in the wrong age group. As I said to the dragonfly I would be surprised if your father is/would be an enemy of Trump today. My father would not be, he'd be in agreement with me. I just feel bad that in the sixties I agreed with the radicals and argued with him about that. I feel REALLY bad about that when I remember it. He wasn't even a Republican, he was a Democrat, but he was a true patriot, as Trump is.

You have a great family story, llke the story of the Dutch Ten Boom family who also rescued Jews. They got put in a concentration camp for their trouble but as I recall the Jews escaped. The whole Ten Boom family died, except Corrie who went on to tell their story.

They hate everything Trump stands for? Such as what? Secure borders? Legal immigration over illegal? Trade and tax policies that have greatly improved the economy and produced an enormous number of jobs? WHAT would/do they oppose?

Re: Can the right handle winning?
When I heard yesterday about Mexico stopping caravans at their southern border because of Trump's threat of a tariff, I was very excited and thought of posting about it here. But I didn't because I heard it on the radio, didn't expect to be able to find published confirmation, and didn't want to go through another battle at EvC. The whole story wasn't out yet though. But it is great news that Trump's deal is working. And the amazing thing to me is that anybody here knows about it and calls it a success.

Re: Can the right handle winning?
I can't read your link so if there's something crucially important there please quote it. Never mind, I guess that was the quote you posted.
I have no idea what you think he lied about. if there was an agreement so much earlier apparently Mexico didn't honor it until now. What's your point?
