Re: Just when you thought they'd reached the nadir of evil.
Not sure exactly what that last one means.

Children born abroad to parents who are US citizens do not automatically qualify for US citizenship. The parents have to have residency in the us for a certain length of time and for a certain period before the child's birth.

This link from the State Dept. has the details.

I'm guessing that's what is being referred to.

USCIS issued a clarification to the rule later Wednesday, explaining that the new rule would only affect three categories of people: Children of non-U.S. citizens adopted by U.S. citizen government employees or service members; children of non-U.S. citizen government employees or service members who were naturalized after the child's birth; and children of U.S. citizens who do not meet residency requirements.

Not sure exactly what that last one means.

Children born abroad to parents who are US citizens do not automatically qualify for US citizenship. The parents have to have residency in the us for a certain length of time and for a certain period before the child's birth.

And this presents no citizenship problems for most people. If two married people were both born and raised in the United States, then as adults permanently leave the United States, they can galavant around the world having children hither and yon, and all those children will be US citizens.

But citizenship problems do arise for the children's children. Say a US couple, both born and raised in the United States, become US consular employees in Great Britain. They like Great Britain and remain there for the rest of their lives, having children there and raising them there. Their children are US citizens. The family makes occasional visits to the US to visit family and take vacations.

But when their children themselves become parents and have children of their own outside the US, those children (the grandchildren) are not automatically US citizens, because their parents never resided in the US, only occasionally visiting.

But then what country are these children citizens of? I haven't yet seen an article that spells it out. I assume they're stateless if they're born in a country that doesn't have birthright citizenship. Being stateless is a very bad thing, restricting access to education, healthcare, employment and travel. The article Born stateless: Challenges faced by Americans Abroad in the Transmission of Citizenship to overseas-born children says that about 10% of children born abroad to US parents are denied citizenship. This is a very bad thing well worth remedy.

So you're in favor of imprisoning or executing women who have abortions? How is that "pro-life"?

Re: Just when you thought they'd reached the nadir of evil.
I assume they're stateless if they're born in a country that doesn't have birthright citizenship.

According to the Wikipedia page on jus soli:

Jus soli in many cases helps prevent statelessness. Countries that have acceded to the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness are obligated to grant nationality to persons born in their territory who would otherwise become stateless persons.

Seventy-three nations have acceded to the Convention mentioned.

As for the children born in other countries, I presume that they are, indeed, born stateless. I don't know what remedies exist for these persons.

Added by edit:

Oops, I just read the article on The Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness.

"Stateless birth" on their territory attracts the grant of their nationality (article 1).

Otherwise stateless persons may take the nationality of the place of their birth or of the place where they were found (in the case of a foundling), otherwise they may take the nationality of one of their parents (in each case possibly subject to a qualifying period of residence in that State) (article 2).

I still have no answer for the case where none of the relevant countries have acceded to the Convention.

By the way, the US doesn't appear to have acceded: list.

It means, "Trolls Are Your Responsibility, Not Mine."

If you don't want the troll fed, you get rid of him. As far as I'm concerned, as long as he's a member in good standing, he's worth responding to.

Self-own in studio 4
Fox & Friends Stunned: First Responders Do Not Validate 'War On Cops' Narrative

quote:
Pete Hegseth and Fox News filled their studio with first responders (firemen and police officers) and played a new video of somebody throwing some milk at a police officer.

It's their usual attempt to make believe all policemen and firefighters are being constantly disrespected and no longer want to do their jobs.

Hegseth said, "I can throw some milk or throw water at a cop and get away with it. I'm laughing about and I'm going to film it..."

Hegseth portrayed every first responder as being under siege by the citizens they are sworn to protect.

"They don't feel like they can crack down the way they need to create an environment where a new normal is created," Hegseth said.

...

Hegseth continued, "It resonates so much with people, because you see another side of the aisle, an entire party saying, "we're the party of illegality, we're the party of non-citizenship." And [Trump] says, "no, last time I checked, America still matters."

Co-host Steve Doocy then asked the audience to weigh in on this supposedly unbearable situation, "All right. Can we see the hands of the people here today, the first responders in law enforcement, who have encountered anything like that in the last year or so in New York, or wherever you are?

No hands were raised. Silence ensued. The Trump sponsored propaganda team all received a shock to the system when none of those in their first responder's audience raised their hands when they were asked if they had ever been disrespected by the public. Yikes.

When no hands were raised, Doocy walked out to the audience to bail them out as Ainsley then said, "Or know anyone that has?"

When nobody responded Doocy said, "Well, that's good."

One of the Deplorables
A Trump supporter arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot up a Walmart. (Raw Story

Another post featured “a shirtless man agents noted fits Clayton’s description posed with a rifle in front of a Trump banner, while wearing a flag bandanna over his face and holding a bottle of bourbon.”

He calls himself a White Nationalist and a registered Republican and doesn’t like being called a Nazi because he doesn’t quite understand the economic principles of Naziism (so I guess the anti-semitism is fine by him).
