But I am familiar with heavy equipment that requires a lot of fuel to be able to move and do work.
I guess you are unaware that the construction industry is already working on that. StackPathThis article is two years old so I am sure a lot has happened since then. https://www.hitachicm.com/...-powered-construction-machinery OTR truck manufacturers are all over it too.Peterbilt becomes latest truck maker to work on all-electric class 8 truck to compete with Tesla Semi | Electrek China, and Japan is building them all the time.
And they are welcome to invest in the most expensive way to produce electricity. That doesn't mean the US should do the same. Renewables and renewables with storage are now cheaper than coal. Those are the facts.

Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness. If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

My electricity is generated by coal. The draglines that dig it up weigh up to 5700 tons and have buckets up to 98 cubic yards. I toured one in 1966 but I didn't get a chance to see it walk. But I am familiar with heavy equipment that requires a lot of fuel to be able to move and do work. Some I have run burned 300 gallons of diesel per day. They run on electricity.

ICANT writes: When people walk across our borders without authorization we do not have borders. Then no country has borders because no fortification has ever been 100% successful. How many people made it across the Berlin wall?
Why do you feel the taxpayers of the United State should be responsible for someone who has entered our country without our permission? Common decency. Ever heard of it?
Would you care to quote me the words where he solicitated foreign governments to interfere in our elections, and point me to the source. Sure.
quote: He is the chief law enforcement officer in the U.S. So if he needs to call out blatant misuse of power by people like Comey and Brennen and many others in the FBI and the CIA just how is he supposed to do that, without making a lot of waves? The only offense those people have committed is in holding the president accountable. This president regularly denigrates people whose only goal is to follow the law.
Where do you get such an idea as that? He appointed two supreme court judges that believe in the Constitution as it was written not as a living changing document. Too bad the president himself doesn't believe in the US Constitution, as shown by his belief that an impeachment is unconstitutional.
No gas automobiles. No diesel trucks hauling supplies. No cows to produce milk. No coal to produce electricity. Nuclear power to generate electricity is too dangerous. No airplanes to fly in. They burn aviation fuel. All of our factories would have to close down. These are just a few of the problems we would face. No one is saying we should get rid of these until we have a true replacement. Do you think a Tesla electric car is equivalent to a horse drawn carriage? Do you think using solar panels is like going back to the 1800's?

Common decency. Ever heard of it? Not to mention the fact that, no matter how much it pisses off RWNJs, they have almost all Constitutional rights.

Hi Jon
JonF writes: I take it you've never seen a gangster movie or read a book about gangsters. What does a gangster movie or books about gangsters have to do with a telephone transcript? I have the transcript and have read it and it does not say what you say it says. I asked for paper and page number and paragraph if possible so I can check my transcript against yours. Your beliefs don't count nor do you assumptions. Just present the evidence to support your assertion.. Hi Taq
Taq writes: Common decency. Ever heard of it? Sure I have heard of common decency. That should apply to those breaking in line to get into our country. We have people that have been waiting years to get into our country the proper way. But you and others think we should allow anybody that can sneak into our country without Our permission should be welcomed with open arms.
Taq writes: Then no country has borders because no fortification has ever been 100% successful. Yes I know a country you can not get into without their permission. In fact if you go on a vacation there and decided you want to extend your stay you had better go to the immigration office and get an extension which you have to pay for. If you just overstay the day after you were supposed to leave an immigration officer will find you and you had better be in the hospital or you will be on the next plane leaving the country. So yes there are countries that have borders and their laws are strictly enforced. If the laws Bill Clinton signed into law was enforced we would not have people walking across our borders.
Taq writes: The only offense those people have committed is in holding the president accountable. So you are OK with the lying to the Fisa Court to get a search warrant to spy on American citizens.
Taq writes: quote: The first paragraph is talking about the 2016 so called Russian interference and Hillary's email server.
quote: What is wrong with that request? The second paragraph is talking about a brag that Joe Biden made on national tv about giving Ukraine 6 hours to fire a prosecutor or they would not get a billion+ dollars in aid. The prosecutor that took his place settled the case that was being prosecuted for a fine of a few million dollars. The company was one Hunter Biden was on the board of directors.
quote: What is wrong with asking for Ukraine to help our Attorney General with his investigation into this matter. Joe Biden did exactly what you and everyone else here is blaming Trump for doing. According to Joe Bidden he told the government he was leaving in about 6 hours and if they did not fire the prosecutor before he left they would not get the billion+ dollars in aid.
Taq writes: Too bad the president himself doesn't believe in the US Constitution, as shown by his belief that an impeachment is unconstitutional. They why did he invite Nancy Pelosi to call a vote in the House to begin a legal impeachment process?
Taq writes: No one is saying we should get rid of these until we have a true replacement. Do you think a Tesla electric car is equivalent to a horse drawn carriage? Do you think using solar panels is like going back to the 1800's? That is not the rhetoric I hear coming from our democratic hopefuls that are running for president. Taq I operated and electric earth moving machine in 1958. It had electric motors to control everything. Steering, raising and lowering of the pan, unloading the dirt that was in it, and the braking system. It took a 900 hp engine to run the generator required to operate that machine. It burned 180 gallons of diesel in a 12 hour day. A semi tractor/trailer has a maximum of 80,000 lbs. payload what would the batteries weigh that would be required to operate the vehicle? In the tesla you mention the batteries weigh 1200 lbs. and will go 350 miles on a full charge. With a normal tractor with a sleeper and a 53 foot trailer the empty weight with full fuel tanks is 35,000 lbs. Giving a 45,000 lb. payload possible. Add Batteries to the same tractor/trailer 35,000 + 20,400 for the batteries using the tesla formula and your possible payload is reduced to 24,600 lbs. So we would have to increase the number of trucks on the road by almost double to deliver the same amount of goods. The same formula of the tesla probably would not work for the semi as it would probably require a lot more power to operate the truck than the tesla. Semi's average 7 to 8 miles per gallon of diesel. That is less than 1/3rd of what my Nissan does. So the tesla formula probably would not work as the semi would require more energy. Every lb. you would have to add in batteries would reduce the payload. And yes solar panels are great. I looked into getting them for my house and it would cost me 30K to outfit my house then there would be the maintenance on the system. At my age it is not cost effective. How is the electricity produced to charge the tesla's batteries? God Bless"John 5:39 (KJS) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me."

Hi ringo
ringo writes: They run on electricity. Those are some large machines. They walk by the legs being lifted up and then extended then the machine is picked up by extending the feet. Then the pistons are retracted moving the machine. They can't travel very fast. The one I am familiar with has a cab the size of a four bedroom house. It has a kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, engine room, and operations room. Machine operates 24/7 and stops only for maintenance, or breakdown. The generators were powered by two 16 cylinder diesel engine's. The machine had a 2,000 gallon fuel tank. Hi Theodoric
Theodoric writes: I guess you are unaware that the construction industry is already working on that. I operated an electric earth mover in 1958. The electricity was produced by a diesel engine. So they didn't just start working on them. LeTourneau Westinghouse was working on them a long time ago. You can see them here: Classic machines: LeTourneau-Westinghouse C-500

Perhaps an anecdote would assist you here.
A barrister I once spoke to told me (and I've since seen it in a cartoon as well), when barristers address each other, prefacing their sentence with the words "with respect", it means "you're wrong". When they say "with the greatest respect", it means "you're very wrong". And when they say "with the utmost respect", it means "send for the men in the white coats". The beauty of language is that it has many meanings, a large proportion of them non-literal and contextual. The horse's head in The Godfather is one of the classic iterations of that. People can nitpick all they want over the literal interpretation of Trump's precise language (which is a largely futile endeavour in any event, since his utterances are rarely grammatically coherent, let alone correct). However, if you believe that Trump's clear request to the Ukraine was anything other than a blatantly unlawful request to a foreign government to interfere in US elections, then, with the utmost respect, you are in error. Edited by vimesey, : No reason given.Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Talk about avoiding the point!
Trump did not explicitly and clearly state what the quid pro quo was. Just like gangsters and diplomats. But his meaning was clear by his juxtaposition of the request for more than weapons and his request for a favor. He was explicit about what the favor was. What he meant was glaringly obvious to many of the people listening to the call and anyone who reads the "transcript" with an open mind. A group which does not include you.

Trump did not explicitly and clearly state what the quid pro quo was. ... Actually just asking a foreign country for help with your election is against the law, the bullying/extortion over the weapons was/is icing on the cake -- a second crime on top of the first -- especially as congress had approved the weapons and withholding them was due only to Humpty Dumpty wanting to use them as leverage on the new Ukrainian President. Publicly asking China to also provide help with his campaign is also against the law. China's rebuff was poetic. It was also NOT about corruption, rather obviously as no other investigation on corruption exists.
What he meant was glaringly obvious to many of the people listening to the call and anyone who reads the "transcript" with an open mind. A group which does not include you.
