Some have speculated that his doct is giving him a placebo. Then Doc could have just called it that and Trump would none the wiser. As I reported in Message 1205 (Humour VIII) on 26 Apr 20, from Al Franken's reading of Trump's latest tweets about a new drug that he had heard about (which I had to paraphrase from memory):
DWise1 writes:
Trump tweets about a new surefire cure for corona virus that he has just learned about. This is a drug that has been around for many decades and has been in more clinical trials than any other drug. And in those tries it has proven to cure all diseases. Whatever ails you, this cures it. Its name is placebo. And it is very effective. It is so effective that they even have a name for how very effective it is: placebo effect. Fauci approves of it. Birx approves of it. Fauci gave Trump a placebo tablet. The tablet tasted a bit sweet. Fauci told Trump that now he is immune to corona virus and to demonstrate the effectiveness of placebo Trump should go to a major hospital and personally visit all the COVID-19 patients and shake their hands. Trump thinks that is a very good idea and is making arrangements for that visit. Pence also thinks that it is a very good idea and wants to help make the arrangements.

It’s pretty hard not to interpret that as saying that the existence, leadership and defence of the slave owning South was part of a Great American heritage. But what about the fact that they were all traitors to their country, the USA? So in the USA, we are supposed to honor traitors to the USA as part of "a Great American heritage"? And don't you go throwing King George III in our face now!

Just wanting to toss out a historical hypothesis. Basically that what is done usually is based on what had happened before.
For example, the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871) resulted in a resounding defeat for France in which the Prussians sat in the palace at Versailles watching Paris tear itself in a weeklong civil war (the "Bloody Week"). At the end of that, from Versailles Prussia declared the formation of the German Empire, recovered Alsace-Lorraine (or more properly, Elsa-Lothringen) which they had lost to the French in 1640, and demanded reparations from the French forcing them to pay for the expense of that war. A bit less than half a century later, the results of the German Empire losing WWI was that the treaty was negotiated at Versailles, it called for the destruction of the German Empire, and it demanded reparations from Germany forcing them to pay for the expense of that war. The results of WWI didn't come from nowhere, but rather came from how previous wars had ended. There's also the old adage of generals always going into a new war fighting the previous one. Eg, the infamous British cavalry charge against German machine gun emplacements. You cannot make this kind of stuff up! My pet hypothesis refers to the American Revolution: why did the British act in such a repressive manner as to make the situation increasingly worse? I think that they were simply applying lessons learned in the Jacobite uprisings without applying them to the situation in the Colonies. Those uprisings were quelled by extreme repression which completely destroyed the Scottish clan system, cleared the glens of troublesome Scots to make way for much more profitable (and easier to handle) sheep, etc. So when the Colonists started grumbling, the British did what had "worked so well" in Scotland and took the same extreme military repression route. Part of the reason why it wouldn't work this time was that in the mean time Scotland's primary export was Scots, with many of them ending up in the Colonies. So the Colonists basically saw what was coming and had some their own ideas of what to do about it. Anyway, those are a couple of my hypotheses about the American Revolution, FWIW.

what was [Roger Stone's] crime exactly? Crimes. Many, I'm sure, since he's such a sleazy operator and "rat fucker" (technical political campaign terminology; review that scene towards the end of All The President's Men (1976)). However, rat fucking and related malfeasance can be difficult to build a prosecution on even when laws are violated (which they very frequently are). So while one's crimes can be astonishingly many, charges for which one is prosecuted tend to be few -- eg, mobster and multiple murderer Al Capone was prosecuted and convicted for income tax evasion, while Trump has violated a multitude of federal laws his impeachment focused on his crimes regarding the Ukraine (the political calculus was that volumes of evidence detailing all of Trump's crimes would only confuse the public too much). So while Stone's crimes are undoubtedly many, he did face specific charges for which he was duly indicted and then convict. Here they are as described in Wikipedia, but they are also listed by many other sources (except by the Fake News Network, Fake Talk Radio, Fakes and Friends, and fake Christians who worship The Beast):
quote: The only political machinations is Trump having Barr try to get a convicted criminal off solely because of Stone's connections to Trump. Even though Roger Stone is clearly what Trump would call a "bad hunger" (from Trump's campaign statements that "these are bad hambres"). If you really wanted to know what Stone was charged with, then you could have looked it up for yourself with no difficulty. Remember that the Fake News Network et al. are as bad as or even worse than creationists: they lie to you all the time.

Silly monkey. I don't have a soul that needs saving and neither do you. Even if he's right about having a soul that needs saving, then he must realize that he has lost his by worshipping The Beast (the Orange One, not the MCU good buy who's blue). The large numbers of "Christians" losing their soul by following the Beast and the Anti-Christ was a frequent teaching in the Jesus Freak Movement circa 1970.

Wow. Just wow.
When the scales finally fall from your eyes, you will be so mortified that you had ever supported Trump.
god, you better commit some voter fraud for trump No need to get any god involved. Trump and the anti-American/anti-Constitution GOP and Russia and whatever other foreign actors are doing all they can to commit election fraud.
unfortunately the fate of all of humanity hangs in the balance here Yes, it does indeed. Very dringend (sorry, but an English translation for that German word escapes me at the moment). If Trump gets re-elected, then democracy is finished, America is finished, and very likely the world is finished. The fate of all of humanity does indeed hang in the balance. I'm sorry, but you're Catholic, aren't you? You are so lucky that Faith has been suspended indeterminately for her COVID nonsense that endangered lives. She was a fundie of indeterminable theology who was so rabidly anti-Catholic that she'd be in your face all the time. For that matter, whole bodies of "true Christians" believe that Catholics aren't even Christian (eg, Jack Chick of Chick Pubs, which the Jesus Freaks of 1970 gobbled up and left droppings of all over the place -- a lot of my Christian training is from my exposure to the Jesus Freaks). Tell me, do you Catholics ever get into Revelation? Jeez! The Jesus Freaks were very deeply into the End Times (when they weren't obsessing over demons), so I got exposed to a lot of that stuff. Have you ever heard of The Beast? And the Mark of the Beast that you would wear on your forehead. To be followed by the Anti-Christ. Now, these End-Times freaks (in the 60's sense, man!) would go through history trying to find any malfeasant who would fit the description of Beast or Anti-Christ (eg, Hitler usually gets high marks). But the irony of it all is that those Jesus Freaks would constantly harangue that in the End Times so many "Christians" would very willingly forsake God and line up to kiss the Beast's ass and accept His Mark upon their forehead. Well, if ever there were a candidate for The Beast, it would be Donald Trump. And his Mark on your forehead is "MAGA". And, of course, it is God who places him into office, because that is necessary to fulfill Revelation. And you are personally totally cool with such Satanic machinations (REMEMBER!!!! He held that Bible UPSIDE-DOWN, which is Satanic symbolism). Wow. Just, wow.

"to attack my faith is shameful."-biden what faith, joe? shouldn't you be ashamed? Joe Biden is a F**KING CATHOLIC! Who else here is a Catholic. Oh, yeah YOU ARE YOU F**KING HYPOCRITE! OK, I'm not Catholic, but I assume that you have at least some passing familiarity with the Bible. And the Gospels. Do please correct me if I am mistaken. Now, if you had ever actually read the Gospels, then you should know without any possible margin of doubt (since the narrative did make it extremely clear) what Jesus HIMSELF said of how evil HYPOCRITES are. According to my reading of the Gospels, there was nothing that JESUS HIMSELF hated more than HYPOCRICTES. OK, maybe I'm wrong. Do please make your case to the contrary. I'm not going to hold my breath, because I know that you will not even begin to consider doing any such thing SINCE YOU HAVE BEEN CAUGHT IN THE ACT!

Just now on Doctor Who (late Fourth Doctor episode, State of Decay) the Doctor and Romana encounter a highly dysfunctional society. She describes it as a "sociopathic abscess". Sounds like a fitting diagnostic for the current administration.
From The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy we have the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (my emphasis added): quote: Similarly, Trump repeatedly and continually demonstrates that he is so mind-bogglingly stupid that he thinks that the only COVID infections that actually exist are the ones we find through testing, therefore if we stop testing then there will be no new infections. Though we should probably be thankful that he is such a "f&*king moron (Rex Tillerson, Trump’s former Secretary of State, coming out of that very first cabinet meeting). If Trump weren't so utterly stupid and incompetent, he would have completed the destruction of America within the first or second year. Maybe the movie, Idiocracy, should get dishonorable mention here. And of course, there is also a multitude of pandemic stories in both film and print that have laid out our situation over and over again. Except that in those scenarios they at least had some adult leadership in place. "Those who do not learn the lessons of science fiction are condemned to live them."(email tagline) "There comes a time in the affairs of men where you have to grab the bull by the tail and face the situation."(William Claude Fields)

At least some of which is a local golf course owned by somebody else -- hence a competitor -- and which was to be split in half by the Wall. Basically, no competitor is too small for Trump to abuse the power of his office to eliminate.

He wants to make reparations for the land that was stolen after the Mexican War. Judging from the keen sense of history that he repeatedly demonstrates, I'm sure that Trump doesn't even know that that war had ever happened (along with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor) -- though I suspect that most Americans also don't know about it. I wanted to suggest that Trump confuses that with the Zoot Suit Riots (Los Angeles, June 1943 -- it was white servicemen and Angelenos who violently attacked the pachucos, so of course the pachucos were the ones arrested). But I'm sure that he doesn't know about that either. I wouldn't be surprised to hear Trump say that Mexico used to be US territory before the Mexicans moved in and stole it from us. "That guy's brain is a bag full of cats. You can smell crazy on him."(Bruce Banner)

(Unless you argue that humans wrote the story and God had nothing to do with it, ... That's actually kind of funny when you think about it. Yes, it was indeed humans who wrote the story. God has never written anything on His own but rather has always had to depend on humans to do His writing for Him. So then God uses humans as ghost writers. As we will recall, there was an earlier report of someone in the White House staff popping positive for COVID. It was dismissed as a single isolated event. I remember that original report and it was mentioned again last night on the radio as having occurred on 17 Sep 2020.
Two weeks later, 01 Oct 2020, Hope Hicks pops positive as do Mr. & Mrs. Trump. Coincidence? Fake news? A hoax? To quote a well-known American philosopher: "Not hardly." Corollary: This has had two weeks to spread through a crowded office (the West Wing, which is described as having people crammed in practically on top of each other). This is just the beginning. Two worries for me are first that he will get some kind of sympathy vote. Already I've heard that the Democrats' campaign is easing up on attack ads.
The second is that those who are too disgusted by Trump will somehow find Pence more palatable. Yes, in far too many ways Pence is even worse than Trump, but he does maintain a more adult façade, does not present himself as overtly racist (at least not to the extent that Trump is), and does not seem to be as likely to try to burn the entire country down in a race war just because he couldn't get his way. His nicer, almost human, façade might trick some voters who couldn't vote for Trump to vote for him.

A fantasy: One of my fantasies revolves around the fact that it will be mostly Democrats using mail-in ballots and Republicans who will go to the polls on Election Day. The numbers that we will see on the night of Election Day will first reflect the ballots cast at the polls that day and then later factor in the counts from the mail-in ballots. As a result, we expect to see initial results that appear to favor Trump but then as the mail-in counts get added in over the next few days those initial results will be replaced by a Biden victory. In fact, that is part of what Trump is counting on so that he can make his false claim that the election has been rigged by the mail-in ballots. My fantasy is that the Election Day results from the polls will show a Biden win which is then only strengthened by mail-ins and early voting. Not only would that nullify Trump's "rigged election" fantasy, but it would make his defeat even more devastating for his ego.
