Can you say Noriega redux?
Wow! Trump actually planned ahead for once? I cannot believe it!
Trump has Bill Barr in place and ready for this operation. It was Bill Barr under Bush the First who proclaimed that, after extensive research of international law, had found legal support for invading a sovereign nation and arresting a national leader. He even released a "summary" (13 pages that time, I seem to recall) of what he had found. Oh, you want to see my supporting documentation? But I gave you my summary. Trust me. A couple years into the next administration, Barr's documentation did finally surface and it completely failed to support the conclusions Barr at arrived at in his "summary".
Did anybody else also experience dj vu? Remember, the hyena cannot change its stripes.

Hyenas have spots, not stripes. Stripes was a movie dummy!

Well, I couldn't call Barr a tiger, because that would be far too insulting to tigers.

Trump says oversight report needs his approval.
https://www.cnbc.com/...ht-for-500-billion-bailout-fund.html
quote:
The language gives the Inspector General power to report back to Congress information including the nature of the loan and its recipients. It has the power to make informational requests from other agencies to extent practicable and not in contravention of any existing law. It is required to let Congress know if those requests are blocked.
Trump, though, said Friday he believes the Inspector General needs his permission in order to make such reports to Congress.
I do not understand, and my Administration will not treat, this provision as permitting the [the Inspector General] to issue reports to the Congress without the presidential supervision, he wrote in a signing statement. A signing statement indicate how the president intends to interpret a law.
So Trump says the IG can only report what Trump says can be reported.
That sounds like real true oversight.

Root Cause of Virus Outbreaks and Related Economic Depressions
It is not just Donald Trump, it is also his Juche sycophants. Since day one they have declared war against both science and nature. By doing so, they have compromised our safety and destroyed the world economy.
Looks like science and nature always wins in the end, the only questions remaining are when will the war stop and how many had to sacrifice their lives.

Ever hear the saying, that guy is seven thirty. Common in NY
Not really directed at Trump, but this reminded me of that line.

Coincidence?
One of the news types pointed this out the other day.
Even if somebody is a complete and total moron and completely incompetent, still there is a statistical chance that he could get something right once or twice. As that "genius" from Texas, Rick Perry, said, "even a broken clock is right once a day" (BTW, he immediately followed "Dubya" Bush as governor of Texas, giving Dubya the nickname of "the smart one").
So why is it that Trump is so consistently wrong on each and every single part of this pandemic? What we used to call "the law of averages" when playing pool without skill should result in some balls falling into the pockets. So why hasn't that happened?
Could there possibly be some kind of money-making scheme in operation? I would not put that past Trump.

Well, according to the BBC’s take on this story:
Trump’s Aggressive Advocacy of Malaria Drug for Treating Coronavirus Divides Medical Community - The New York Times
The report suggests that Trump himself has a "small personal financial interest in Sanofi, the French drugmaker that makes Plaquenil, the brand-name version of hydroxychloroquine".
It does seem to be a small interest, but hey, every dollar and all that.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Re: No Comment Required
January 15th is also when S. Korea had their first case, and started testing people using the WHO testing protocol. They were soon up to 2,000 tests per day. They now are closing in on no new cases per day, while the US is still increasing cases per day.
Trump rejected the WHO test in favor of a not yet developed US test ... because he doesn't like the WHO and wants to defund them.
This is the toll of delay, denial, disinformation and dumba$$ery.

So much winning
quote:
'A disastrous situation': mountains of food wasted as coronavirus scrambles supply chain
Farmers are seeing produce rot in fields and dairy wash down drains as they rush to find areas of demand and prevent closures
Billions of dollars worth of food is going to waste as growers and producers from California to Florida are facing a massive surplus of highly perishable items.
The impact could be up to $1.32bn from March to May in farm losses alone, according to a National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition report.
Add in the absence of the seasonal immigrant workers, because Trump closed green card embassies.
