Oh Look, More Responsible Gun Owners
Here.
North Las Vegas police said that no charges are expected to be filed against an off-duty officer and her husband, who is in the police academy, after they shot a female family member.
KTNV reported that the Las Vegas police officer and her husband were asleep on Christmas night when the family member came home unexpectedly at 11:30 pm.
The couple accidentally fired 27 rounds at the woman, according to KNTV. The relative reportedly suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. At least one bullet was said to have hit her leg.
A law enforcement official told KNTV that the victim was the mother of one of the shooters. She had access to the home because she lives with the couple.
Let's read that again. She had access to the home because she lives with the couple.
How do you live in a house containing three people, hear someone moving about the house, and not consider the possibility that it might be the other person who lives in the fucking house?

Re: Oh Look, More Responsible Gun Owners
I'm sure an isolated incident involving an idiot behind the wheel of a car wouldn't compel you to do away with cars altogether in response.
After the first few thousand isolated incidents I'd start to wonder if they were actually isolated.

Re: Gun Control in Missouri
Just ask British police officers if they want to go unarmed again and see what they'll say.
What do you mean "go unarmed again"? No-one has armed them. They are unarmed. They seem happy that way.
Surveys by the Police Federation of England and Wales have continued to show police officers' considerable resistance to routine arming. In the Federation's most recent (2006) Officer/Arming survey, 82% of respondents were against the routine arming of police. --- WP.

Re: It's not you, it's the other guy!
So look ahead, look left, look right, then look behind you, because you never know where they'll be coming from. This is how you should drive in the snow, but is this how anyone wants to live their lives?
Well, that would be no additional burden on a neurotic paranoid person who already sees threats everywhere.

Re: Automobile deaths vs. homicides
Lets obsess over automotive accidents then.
Have you got any ideas as to how to reduce the rate of automobile accidents that we're not already doing?
I worry about staph infections ALOT
Again, it would be nice to hear your suggestions.

So that's my trouble with analogies, doctor.
I can see what your trouble is.

Those Responsible Gun Owners Just Keep Coming
When a man posts this on his facebook page ...
... then you can pretty much guess what weapon he's gonna use to kill his children with.
Some details here.
There was no way, of course, for anyone to know that when Shawn Fuller and his 3- and 4-year-old sons walked into the Statesville store around 5 p.m. But for Kelli Simko, 37, who was also in the store at the time, something seemed off. Less than half a day later, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said deputies responded to a residence on Trent Road where they found Fuller with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and the two boys, who were both pronounced dead.
He had a gun on his belt, Simko said of her interaction with Fuller earlier in the day. He told (the clerk) he wouldn’t shop anywhere he couldn’t bring his gun.
[...] In addition to several comments about carrying his gun openly, Fuller talked about how he enrolled his boys in self-defense classes because of how the world is today. He said how you can’t even walk into a movie theater anymore, she said.

The ones that use a blanket approach to try to solve granular problems.
Ah, so like passing laws instead of talking to each individual angry drunk guy one-on-one and explaining to him why he shouldn't murder his children.
Well, I guess you can do that and Them Liberals Who Hate America will do the other thing.

Not only is it likely, it's happening right now. Gun sales have spiked dramatically because there is a fear that Obama will use recent tragedies to change laws.
Fortunately the stupid paranoid twats who are rushing out to buy more guns are precisely the stupid paranoid twats who already have lots of guns. And although admittedly they are a danger to themselves and everyone around them, this doesn't actually increase if they have more guns, 'cos of them only having two hands each.
It will drive a wedge between government officials and an already paranoid public.
87% of Americans want universal background checks. But if you ask gun owners, that figure falls to a mere 84%. It's not the "public" that's paranoid, it's mentally ill people.

The Most Responsible Gun Owner Of All Time
California man ranting about Obama’s gun action opens fire on apartments before cops shoot him dead
Witnesses said the gunman was ranting incoherently about gun control measures proposed by Obama, who announced executive actions earlier that same day intended to keep firearms from being sold to criminals and the mentally ill.
We heard the five shots everyone was screaming, said David Rice, who lives near the apartment complex. He came out screaming ‘Obama! Obama! Obama!’
Well, he makes a good point.

I need to start a thread on that one.
No you don't. You have already started quite enough threads.

Another Isolated Incident
In another isolated incident, again another isolated parent has in an isolated incident killed his isolated child in a way that is absolutely isolated and is just another isolated incident that we shouldn't give a damn about, because it's isolated.
